I miss my SX4 - lost it in the Hurricane Sandy flooding. That car would never let me down - in the snow it was the fastest thing I've ever driven even with all weather tires and with Nokian snow tires it was unstoppable.
As far as I know, the Ford Kuga doesn't have a manually switchable differential lock. The SX4 has got one. That's the magic I'll guess. Great little 4x4 the Suzuki. Wow!
*all over the place not "olover" the place. You are correct, well done. You know basic physics that the Suzuki driver that didn't push throttle fully, had more traction than the Kuga. As the driver of the Kuga was vigerously accelerating, it caused the wheels to slip and spin on the slippery surface, thus resulting in it losing traction. Maybe you are paying a little bit of attention in KeyStage2 science. So now, we have come to realise it wasn't the Ford that was bad, it was the drivers skill.
the kuga is simply heavier and has wider tires so its harder for it to climb up a snowy hill, but most of the time on paved roads it handles much better than the sx4, when you do need a bit of off road capability it handles fine except in extreme situations like this.
I can see the commercial now ... "This is the Suzuki SX4... And this is a Crossover costing nearly twice as much... The SX4 also has a better warranty and gets better gas mileage"
nevermind what weight of car. the point of this test is to show what difference in offroadproof transmission and torque/balanced engine. and, of course, the tires ))))
Too much people talking about tires but... SX4 have CENTRAL DIFERENTIAL BLOCKER, and that is a BIG difference in off road. Maybe an SX4 have more Off road capabilities with the same height of explorer, because Ford "suv" only have an electric "inteligent" traction system...
so not fair to see this video now, i have the 4x4 Suzuki and i want to replace it with the ford kuga (Escape 2013 north America version) I got tired of the little car after 3 years, to much road noise and a few design flaws, but now i going back to my first option Infinity EX35. I think because the SX4 is lighter it had an easier time getting up that hill. The Ford had the same tire footprint, but more weight. It also appears that the Ford Kuga had 4WD instead of AWD? I don't know much about that model.
nedžad bajrić im drive at hill with 40 cm snow my tires brand new and ford can very easily go top off hill but porsche cayenne couldnt because tires are bullshit:)
I was completely disappointed, when a plow truck pushed snow onto my driveway, 2ft high. I thought it would challenge my Grand Vitara. From a standing position, that little truck just bulldozed over that pile of packed snow like it was nothing. The engine barley made a grunt or growl.
I dont have any kind of expirience on driving in the snow, but I can say that the SX4 is, at least, a good offroader on the sand, the problnes are: ground clearance and the 60km/h limit for de 4x4Lock (a must have on the sand). But these 2 probs can be solved by knowing the terrain where you`re driving, going at 55-60km/h (all windows closed...) and knowing the limits of the car (this is not a land rover).
за резину на Куге не скажу, если зимняя, то очень плохая, а esp конечно задавила хорошо, да и водила по-ходу так себе, на снегу умудрился заглохнуть, + конечно вес!
I do like Ford. Did it seem otherwise? I don't understand how it could. I just said that the Kuga only slipped and the Suzuki didn't because of the driver. Again, read the comment.
i think that ford Kuga slightly heaver than Suzuki Sx4 or the 4x4 system of Suzuki has well precised n' handling among worst condition than Ford Kuga? i think the ancestor, suzuki samurai was tested the 4x4 capabilities during its generations

hyenachase f the Kuga constantly monitors the conditions and give the "correct" amount of drive to individual wheels. I think the biggest issue in this video is the difference in weights.
Both cars had snow tires!! It says so right under the video title!! So no need to make up those stories that sx4 had snow tires and kuga had summer tires.
