This transmission and variations of it are used in Volvos, Minis, VW and many other brands. They are smooth transmission and appear to be very reliable however dealerships will tell you the fluid is ''sealed for life''.
This was done for the first time for the vehicle at 60,000kms
Below is the procedure in short:
After you have removed the battery and battery tray:
1. Remove the filler plug (Torx 55)
2. Remove the overflow plug (Torx 40)
3. Remove the drain plug (Hex/Allen size 17)
4. Drain the ATF (roughly 2/2.5L)
5. Refit the drain plug
6. Renew the O-ring (optional)
7. Refit the overflow plug
8. Renew the O-ring (optional)
9. Refill the automatic transmission (same amount that came out)
10. Start the car and cycle through all gears for 10sec each
11. Repeat the process twice (or even 3 times if your fluid is brown/dirty or smells burnt)
Easy to know if you added too much fluid with this type of transmission because if you remove the smaller overflow plug the fluid will drain - when it stops that means the fluid is on the right level.
Torque settings:
23Nm for drain plug
7.5Nm for overflow plug
Couldn't find a Torque setting for the top filler plug but you wouldn't need more than 10-15Nm

Many thanks for the Fantastic video - made it very easy to follow and do the job. For anyone looking to do the same, if you flush only twice then you will need 7.5L .....2.5L to replace the original oil is flush (1), then need 2.5L to flush (2), plus 2.5L to refill after second flush. If you flush 3 times then you need 10L. Oil needs to be AW-1 Auto Transmission Oil (or similar).

Fantastic video, really helpful as the dealer told me this transmission is 'sealed for life' ! Could you advise where the overflow plug is located pls?

The overflow plug is inside the drain plug (Hence why it is so easy to drain and refill)

@@MrTubeniko ahhh.... of course thanks. Looks like a nice and not difficult job for a bored Sunday (with the right tools!)

Just to say thanks again... done this job today - 1.4 turbo at 38,000 miles, the oil was black and really needed changed. Only thing I'd add to your method is I removed the battery tray bracket (one of the bolts was a bugger to get to...) to make access to the filler a bit easier. And I went straight to a 2 foot breaker bar on the drain plug - it was worth it! No idea why here in UK at least the dealers don't offer this as a service ??

There's no way, why you should flush it twice. Especially when the used fluid looks already so clean. My goodness!
@MrTubeniko
@MrTubeniko 14 дней назад
@@sourwords1808 I went to the aisin website and I found the actual transmission and they said it needs to be flushed every 20k kms. I have done 60k kms. Even worse Suzuki says it is a lifetime fluid!

Oh by the way it's not a "flush" this is just a drain and fill. Flush removes the entire fluid so yes only once is enough. I didn't flush I only drain the pan!

The total volume is 6+ litres (torque converter and valve body hood over half the vol) so a partial drain/refill will be '50/50' old/new. Repeating this means you're 75/25 old/new... and so on.

Do you have any suggestions for the dual clucth automatic, installed on the diesel ones? Thank you for your time.

Sorry I checked the guide I have but it only mentions the manual and the 6 speed auto.

Hi, whicj year is your vitara ? How many liters atf oil neede ?
@MrTubeniko
@MrTubeniko 3 месяца назад
Each drain was a bit less than 2.5L. I drained it twice as you can see on the video, so total around 5L. If you do it 3 times you will need 7.5L and so on. Year 2018

Thanks for the video. What if a mechanic adds 3 and a quarter liters after draining and not measuring the drained amount. Is this considered as overfilled? Should I worry :)
@MrTubeniko
@MrTubeniko 3 месяца назад
@@nomadiclog Should be ok because on the manual itsays you need to add the amount you drained plus an extra 500mL. When I opened the drain plug it seemed that it had a bit more inside anyway.

Is there an AT Filter that needs changing too ??

@@JwABSTKD no it's a solid block the transmission, I think the pan is on the side actually but I didn't bother removing it.

No transmission filter?

It doesn't look like it - I had a look around the way the transmission is designed it looks the entire block is aluminium - I did not see a ''pan'' but that could be somewhere else (either way I have read that it doesn't need to be changed anyway)

Had a good look at mine today... The pan in on the front (you can see the RTV around the outside) - the whole transmission is rotated 90 degrees. No way I'm getting into that though... Looks like the whole front end needs to come off!

@@neil1997 Yeah I noticed that too, do not worry about the Pan just do the oil drains - My other car (Kia Cerato/Forte) is the same the pan is at the front. Seems to becoming a trend now with new cars
