Hot take...Golden Globes is a political award, it has nothing to do with the arts. Occasionally a film like Parasite wins but generally it doesnt happen because judges. Suzume was a better film and more complex plot than Elemental.
I really hope it doesn't become a pattern for immigrant directors like for Elemental and Turning Red to want to focus on trying to retell there life story using a animated film. I worry this mindset will lead a director caring more about the animated story referencing there life then being entertaining.
