Suzi's always been a remarkable singer with a sweet voice all her own. The guitarist was wonderful & so was the bass player-it's a treat to find these performances, tx!
She's great on her own songs, etc. .She's not Tammy Wynette on this one though. Nobody will ever top Tammy as far as I'm concerned. Suzy is a good singer .
It has been said that Merle had intended to give this song to Marty Robbins, but kept it for himself and one can hardly blame him as it is now a country standard. Merle had been influenced by Marty's song 'Begging To You' in penning his own classic.
