This scene is a very important scene that sets the tone - and tension -- that penetrates thru the entire drama. So you cannot take this scene lightly. This scene is indeed very very complex to decipher.
If you know this sorry :3, but it wasn't actually Suzy singing the high note. All the operatic notes they used a professional opera singer to sing for her.
Now, there is a poetic echo in a later episode, when Samdong challenged Jason. 1. Samdong challenged Jason with the song "Last Concert." 2. Ironically, Jason totally owned Samdong with by LONG~~ HIGH voice. 3. Hyemi sees herself in the mirror from that scene. 4. She feels sympathetic toward Samdong, with what she once did to Baekhee. (This part is the "poetic echo" of this part of the drama.)
i love how the top comment said suzy's voice is well rounded when it's not lol during the beginning, she's barely singing (her voice is going into a whisper) because she can't sing low notes whereas eunjung sang both the low and high notes beautifully.
4. Hyemi looked at her, thinking "How dare you..." 5. And she decided to show her real stuff; started singing in operatic one, which is her strength. 6. Finally Hyemi finished off the song with a LONG~~ HIGH operatic tone, thinking she totally OWNED Baekhee. 7. For Baekhee, who adored Hyemi as an idol, could not be happier that Hyemi showed her talents. (Thinking because of Hyemi she too will be admitted to the school.)
it's amazing how Eunjung looked younger than her real age in this drama. like, seriously, i thought they are somewhat of the same age. Haha. i just love her - them. ;)
@ImOnFireAhhh and actually, eunjung's part was actually pretty low for her range; she met her lowest comfortable range. suzy sang a step lower than "comfortable low range". i think that's where the whispers may come up. i noticed that other singers whisper sometimes too when they sing low, but idk if its a range thing or if it's just how the korean language is since there are silent syllables. example would be wonder girls' sohee singing more audible in english than in korean xD;;
OK. I will explain what is going on here. (I did in another video.) 1. This was not supposed to be an opera song. 2. Hyemi thought she could easily beat Baekhee with this song. 3. In the middle, Baekhee pushes herself to her limit. (Remember, she's been practicing from a local vocal-school, not a prestigeous one like Hyemi went to.) Especially the part when Baekhee sings "wow~ wow~"
@blingblingshineshine I came back to my senses, Hye Mi should have really failed the audition but I think the betrayal of friend is not really betrayal. She might be arrogant but she treasures Baek Hee. It was just her natural instinct to be like that. Regarding with the emotions, she is not totally emotionless. You cannot judge one's emotion through their face.
@DreamerEmz actually its the opposite, Eunjung got the better part, the one that was comfortable in her range, if you haven't notice Suzy got the lowest and the highest part of the song...
@ochrehelios But,at that moment,of her audition,she was a brat,accusing her best friend,and only trusted one,of being a stranger,following her through to the audition in hopes of passing along side her,a known prodigy in singing.Overshadowing Baek Hee's part with an unrehearsed change in her own part. Actually,if this weren't Dream High,Hye Mi would have past.She has the credits,the voice,this audition.But because of a certain judge,the one who would shape the events of Dream High,she failed.
@onelovesonelfb2tyvip i love suzy.BUT actually if you'll watch the behind the scenes,they used a ghost singer to sing the highest note part because suzy can't reach it..2:11 part..but the first was ofcourse done by suzy. ANYWAYS,I MEMORIZED THIS SONG BECOZ OF DREAM HIGH TOO.2012,EVERYONE.

@ImOnFireAhhh fact was, someone needed to do it, and suzy had the deeper voice than eunjung, as well as stronger voice. she sang the higher part of the choruses. eunjung's voice after the second chorus connected to her next line and that's where you can tell it's her singing the lower parts.
