I was really impressed by the Klipsch SPL-100 so I decided to find out how it compares to one of the kings of 10inch subwoofers, the SVS PB-1000.

Great video ! I have 10 by 14 ft room, planning to get Marantz SR5014 and 5 B&W CCM 663 ceiling speakers HT setup more for movies and still looking for a Sub woofer. Was leaning towards SVS PB1000 (not SB 1000 as that was too subtle for my taste when I heard in Bestbuy) but this looks bit big for my room so is there a smaller speaker in a similar price range with balanced controlled bass with the bass feel ? or am I better off just choosing PB1000 as there may not be another woofer closer to this with smaller foot print

Thanks for subscribing! Best all around I'd say SVS PB1000 (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QPZzdoTfrg8.html). Followed by the RSL Speedwoofer 10s if you like a fun sub that plays mid bass well. But if you like really deep bass go for the Monoprice Monolith (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OSR5zcaFSnQ.html). You obviously watch the comparison to the Klipsch which I also like but yea all around, go SVS PB1000.

Good thorough job there! I noticed a lot of subsonic cone travel with the Klipsch than the SVS, but yet the SVS is supposed to hit down to 19Hz. Could the SVS have a built in low cut filter? One thing that wastes amp power is playing frequencies the speaker can't reproduce.

Good video! Currently debating which one I will go with. I have 2 klipsch r-10sw right now and want deep lower bass. Is it bad to mix subwoofer sizes ? 12 and a 10? Replacing both subs will be too expensive. Svs 10 ported sub get low enough or do u recommend the svs 2000 ported ??
@HomeTheaterHobbyist
@HomeTheaterHobbyist 5 лет назад
It's ok to mix 10 and 12" subs you'll just have to play around with placement in your room and subwoofer level to find the balance that works for you. As far as the PB1000 vs. PB2000......... The PB2000 does play a little lower so if you're mixing that with your 10" Klipsch, it's probably better to choose the PB2000, it'll be a more noticeable depth in bass.

Does the Klipsch not travel through walls at all? I'm still in my parents house and I'm upstairs, she has problems with low end, I don't really get it, but she acts like she's in pain when she hears a car with a sub drives by. I'm guessing it'll be heard to some degree though, so I'll probably go with the SVS and just use it when she's away.

A succeeding series "1000 Pro" has been released by SVS, now with adjustable DSP by smartphone app. I wouldn't buy Klipsch SPLs any longer. It's not worth the ~150 bucks saved. You get both inferior technology and cabinet design vulnerable to chuffle and resonances when choosing Klipsch.

I bought a $500 Klipsch subwoofer back in 2006. I had never heard of the brand but the salesperson raved about them so I jumped. Well, about 3 years later, it completely died. I took it in for repair and they said the amp was dead and it wouldn't be worth fixing. Therefore, I'll never buy another Klipsch product. 3 years is ridiculous and I didn't even use it that much. I actually just bought this SVS sub. I'd like to add one more feature not mentioned. Customer service. I have called SVS twice already. I've never experienced such incredible service. The woman was incredibly knowledgeable. In fact, I was telling her about problems I've had with my new Denon receiver. She pulled up the manual for it and was helping me with my receiver. She knew more about it than the Denon reps. knew! I don't know about you, but I am willing to pay more knowing I'm getting a 5 YEAR guarantee and access to service like that. By the way, Denon has been a disaster to deal with. No more Denon for me. Horrible service.

sir, I need a new subwoofer but I don't know what to choose. I just bought KEF Q150 WITH 250 center channel. My reciever is Sony str dn1060. I need sub for this system for both music and theatre. Not too technical in these matters.. Too many choices. my room is open not closed and of medium size but tall ceiling. Q150 are fine at filling space. I have a Martin Logan dynamo 700 sub but it blew out. .like svs,klipsch,system,, and speed pro 10. Help please asap

Hi 🙋🏾‍♂️, not sure of your budget but I recommend you try the SVS pb2000 pro. Or another SVS sub that is within your budget. They make great subs and have a 45 day no hassle return policy if you don’t like it. With this policy they pay shipping both ways so that make the trial very easy. I hope this helps.

I've auditioned the Klipsch R112sw, RSL speed woofer 10s, and the PB1000, the Klipsch could not keep up with the PB1000 or 10s, musical the 10s sounded best, the PB1000 dug deeper and was stellar on movies, musical it digs deeper than both the Klipsch and 10s, so I settled on 2 PB1000's and have been pleased for almost 3 years, no regrets!!

Can I link an active subwoofer and also link an active bookshelf speakers to an AV Receiver that already has an amplifier? Wouldn't the AV Receiver blow up the active sub and speakers? Thank you in advance
@HomeTheaterHobbyist
@HomeTheaterHobbyist 3 года назад
The only way to use active speakers with an AVR receiver is to use the "Pre-out" connections of the receiver. If you can't use those, do not connect an active (powered) speaker to an AVR.

Hey bro, it's me again. Thanks for your advise the other day. Please help me: You've warned me to only use active subwoofer or active speakers with an AV receiver's "pre out" connection area. Ok I agree but what happens if the "pre out" connections aren't enough to accommodate other active speakers that I would like to add to the AV receiver? For example I've got as active subwoofer and a pair of active surround sound speakers. I also plan to add another active subwoofer later. Is there any "pre out" extension lead with many ports that I could use to accommodate my other active speakers? If you were in my position, how would you solve this problem? Any suggestions? I'm confident you'd get back to me. Thanks for your kindness in advance.

Is the amplitude the same? Because Klipsch here is distorting the camera way more than SVS does. Seems like SVS is at least 3dB quieter and softer than Klipsch. I wish you could also test some 20-25Hz tones. I'm looking for a good sub which can produce a clean sinewave at 20Hz with reasonable 100dB +
@HomeTheaterHobbyist
@HomeTheaterHobbyist 4 года назад
Yes the levels are the same. I unplugged one sub then reconnected the next with all the same settings. I have disc with 20 Hz tones and mics to record but I don't add that tone to the videos because most people don't have speakers that can replay that tone at normal listening levels. I don't want to blast people's ears with the next tone or my narration 😁.

we've got the pb-1000 on display at my best buy store. one of, if not the, best subwoofer for the price. Like the you said in the beginning, one is a speaker company's subwoofer, and the other is a subwoofer company's subwoofer. granted, we also have the SVS prime pinnacle floor standing tower speakers on display matched with the pb-1000. The matching aesthetics look great, however a subwoofer company's speakers arent the best for the money. for the same price as the SVS prime pinnacles (or a little more) I would choose the B&W 603 Floor standing towers. It's a little overkill for my room, as my room is about 9 square meters (3-3), but I'm an absolute basshead. I also use them sometimes for private parties. My question is which sw you would recommend for me. I'm only using it to listen music (mostly drum and bass/riddim/rap). My preference went to the Teufel s 6000, the Pb 1000 or the SPL 1000. On the SVS- The outputs are 80hz HIGHPASS, which removes the bass going back to an amp to drive small speakers. Which is kind of a cool feature. Ultimately, these line level outputs will not work to drive another sub, since it filters any bass below 80hz.
