Yeah it went well. I’ve only driven it a couple of miles but it’s idled for about a hour or so. I still need to fix a couple of things from it sitting so long before I drive it much more.
@@jasonwheeler8996 nice. Ya four years there will be some things that need some freshening up. Glad to hear you got it going and found the video helpful. Save a few of these cars along the way.
Hey, im doing this to my SVT that blew a head gasket a few years ago. I found a new engine. Question, when you removed the old engine did you take the transmission out first? And did you remove the engine from the top or the bottom of the car?
It can be installed from the top with the transmission installed. It was removed from the bottom I think (don't remember for sure) but I know it was installed front the top with the transmission already attached to the engine.
I know it's 2 years late watching this, the oil gauge on these is pseudo and doesn't actually read an oil pressure you can trust, so when cranking you didn't see anything on the gauge as the car needs to be running for it to give the gauge a signal (ECU uses the revs and engine temp to give a pressure reading 😢)
@@605BOLT you can trick it by trying to stall it and it won't drop low like you'd expect Awesome project dude I'm watching while I game, nice to see such a knowledgeable American talk in very British terms, me and my missus have one each (st170 as we have them) so great to find some content on them 💪
Haha right on! This poor car was trashed before I got it. Left for dead. So I had to take a shot at getting it back on the road. It was a fun project. I'd like another one that was better cared for someday. Are your cars ZX5 or ZX3?
@@605BOLT zx3 is just a 2.0? Our st170 in Europe is the exact same as the svt, just different bumpers and shares the same wheels that yours somehow had
Zx3 is 3 door (2 door) and zx5 is 5 door (4 door). All the SVT cars come with a 2.0L engine. All the SVT cars come with a 6speed manual. The wheels and I think some other odds and ends are the (European Appearance Package) EAP. The seats and headlights and wheels are all part of that. Highly desirable options considering the regular SVT cars had cloth seats that look pretty crappy.
@605BOLT noice!! I just picked up an '02 3dr SVT. It's in rough condition, I plan to bring it back the way it looked 22 years ago. The seller told me no rust. Guess what I found hidden 🫥. I was weary of buying it because I had a feeling the heads were compromised. I wanted the car nonetheless. Guess what was wrong with the engine...the MFing head has 2 issues: coolant in oil and exhaust gas in the coolant 🤣. I need to tear down but need to start at the rust first. I'm in Rust-free country(TX). I think the engine has damaged cylinder walls from what I'm seeing, no way of knowing until I tear down. These cars are so rare that I'm going to take task. Thanks for your videos, they will surely help with torque specs. How much did you pay for your SVT?
