this movie is a product of artists who have matured in their unconsious isolated indian culture, and captured the indian asthetic (or atleast some aspect of it artistically) very truthfully. Rather than most artists of today who live and see everything in a consious westernized prism, detached from their own immediate society deeply rather than engaging in it and filling yourself with it and even giving back something individualistically yours into it
Next Tuesday, this movie will be shown again on one of the TV stations in my country..Never get tired of watching this movie..This movie is very inspiring. Excellent performance by SRK..Thanks for this best stuff..💙
I’m not alone when I say that this is one India’s greatest patriotic songs, if not the greatest. Tears each time each line ARR sings.. Divinity at its purest…
The instrument in the background is Shehnai. Normally, it is played during weddings and other auspicious occasions in northern parts of India. Rahman, as he always does, breaks the mould and uses it to express yearning/melancholy!
The clarinet like sound is an instrument called "shehnai" ....it is typically played on auspicious occasions such as weddings or housewarming. The use of "shehnai" in this song is foreshadowing for the eventual homecoming of SRK's character back to India.
Everything is so perfect about this song. Special mention for lyrics. "Patriotic" songs in Indian movies often indulge about praising the country or asking to sacrifice for the country. This song just talks about longing for the country because its your country. One shouldn't need any other reason.
Very average song. Doesn't really convey any emotions. Wonder why people like it. I have never heard it touted as a fav. Not even remotely comparable to Roja, Bombay or chak de.
Which emotion do you want this song to convey? This is only supposed to convey the emotion of patriotism and the longing to return to one's own homeland, and this song successfully conveys that. If you want this to convey the emotions of Roja or Bombay, you should be listening to some romantic songs I guess.
@@muralikrishnajyothis Maybe he wanted every patriotic song to evoke feelings more on the lines of 'BHARAT MATA KI JAI" and "JAI SHRI RAM". (Indian patriotism has been reduced to these two slogans.)
People dont appreciate movies like this when they release..10 yrs later they become classics...dunki is such a beautiful film, people are loving it also but still it will be a much more respected movie 10yrs later
So much of the lyrics gets lost in translation. And the effect isn’t as intended poetically. Yeh hi desh hai tera Accurately translated: This country that is yours Swa-desh hai yeta Is your own country Meaning this it is not a “Par” desh ie a strange/foreign land The world play in these Hindi lyrics unfortunately can’t be conveyed in English.
