You’ve done a very good version of this painting Denise! It’s one of my favorites too, because it’s a version of a painting I must have done about a hundred times, literally. I did it first about 20 years ago, from a photo in the RSPB magazine. I subsequently sold versions of this painting on eBay for years, each one slightly different from the last. This one now is the most recent version and it’s been quite popular on RU-vid.
@@DianeAntoneStudio wow....very close. We are in the Wenatchee valley now but we did live very near Okanagan for several years in the quaint western town of Winthrop. I wish I had been painting at that time to capture some of the beauty there.
I can’t thank you enough for this wonderful catalogue of ideas and tutorials. This morning I needed to find out how to paint apple blossoms for my #Mayinthegarden challange and for that I quickly found this beauty.
Another great tutorial. I can understand how it may feel as if you're blathering on while filming, but I really think you do a fabulous job of commentary as you paint. Don't stop doing what you're doing!

Really like this. Going to try this after I do a few things. Haven’t really painted in awhile and need to get back doing it daily. Really miss it. Love your teaching style and use it a lot. Not a detailed painter except on occasion ❣️

Yes I think we’re back to winter here too! But I remember the Calgary winter is when we used to live there. We first arrived in 1992 and it was the coldest winter in living memory or something! I’ve never forgotten that winter when my feet froze to the ground! Back then Igot a job working in Office Depot and they introduced me to the idea of using all sorts of office materials in my art studio!
This is really lovely painting... I can't paint like you for sure but I'll always find something similar and will attempt to paint it, will follow your advice and try my best. I started watching this yesterday and started sketching with you but I have already committed so many mistakes 😥
That was great and helpful! I watched it while waiting for my paint to dry on the Monet figures I'm working on. Sounds like your ram is heading for the freezer lol. I just googled eating ram and I guess it's pretty good.
Glad it was helpful! You are so funny! I was trying not to put the kiss of death on the poor ram. He just won't behave in a civilised way. We have three other boys but they've all had "the treatment" so they are well behaved and no butting. Glad you are enjoying the videos!

I typed "swallows" for this one, and it brings up all references to paintings with swallows in. Perhaps you’re thinking of old Holland!? They are a European manufacturer from the Netherlands. Quite well-known really, and Amazon do have some of their paints. But you won’t find them in any shops in Canada I wouldn’t think. I also use Schmincke which is a German brand. But mostly I use Winsor and Newton or Daler Rowney. As far as the American brands go I think Daniel Smith is probably the best.
You either can use a Lightbox, or failing that if you print the sketch out on to ordinary printer paper and then go over the lines on the BACK with a very soft pencil, place that side on the watercolor paper and then go over the lines again with a hard pencil… it is shown in this video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-49Oi-VkVnNk.html
