I believe there is a misconception here. When Swami mentioned that a first-person experience is the most important sign of consciousness, he was referring to the scientific perspective, not the viewpoint of Advaita Vedanta. In Advaita, this first-person experience is referred to as "jiva," which is considered an illusion due to ignorance.
