Great video. Swamp milkweed is really a misnomer. Swamp milkweed does not need to grow in wet areas. In fact swamp milkweed easily grows just about anywhere you plant it. I have several swamp milkweed plants around my home that have grown into beautiful bushes. What is so wonderful about swamp milkweed is the pollinators it attracts. Bees, wasps, butterflies, etc. swarm over this plant throughout the season because there are new blooms constantly appearing. Swamp milkweed is a marvelous plant that is both ornamental and a great food source for the monarch butterfly. I encourage everyone to grow swamp milkweed you won't regret it.
Thanks for that clarification. I have some swamp milkweed seeds from Amazon and was thinking I needed a different milkweed species due to lack of marshy ground.
Greetings from Roseville Michigan near Lake St.Clair, swamp milkweed is my favorite ❤️,ive had monarch butterflies lay more eggs on the swamp rather than my common 👍
Everyone should have milkweed in their yard. It is very easy to grow and the monarchs cannot survive without this plant. The plant produces seed pods which you can take from the plant and plant the seeds. My mothers entire backyard is milkweed, she has thousands of monarchs in her yard and it is amazing. She gave me her seed pods which I planted and grew. I loved seeing the monarchs and especially the caterpillars which ate the leaves till there was nothing left but the stalk. Then I’d search the garden to find all the chrysalis, and watch as the butterfly emerged. It was incredible. The leaves grow back immediately and the cycle continues. I live in Alabama now, and I have never seen a monarch here, so my aunt has been sending me seeds, and they are growing!
I live in a co op in Canada and I'm trying to convince them to allow me to plant a ton of milkweed everywhere. Thank you for all the information in this video, I have a feeling it's going to help a lot. Especially the part about less sap 😂
