22nd - 24th March 2024 saw the Swanage Railway host its Victorian Weekend - a special three-day celebration of the era that built the branch line from Wareham to Swanage in the 1880s.
The event saw two stalwarts of the Victorian period in operation, with recently restored LSWR T3 Class 4-4-0, No.563 of 1893 vintage, joined by visiting SECR O1 Class 0-6-0, No.65 (Courtesy of the Bluebell Railway) of 1896. Visitors were also treated to Victorian reenactors from The Nothe Fort Garrison and The New Thomas Hardy Players, in addition to Victorian craft stands at Swanage Station.
Filmed on 22nd March, we these two veterans of steam - with a combined age of 259 years - were joined by Ex SR U Class 2-6-0, No. 31806 and Ex-SR West Country Class 4-6-2, No.34028 'Eddystone', working an intensive timetable of passenger service between Swanage and Norden.
