Looking at these graphs it looks like Edifier got better low frequency extinction but on the other hand Swans got better high frequency (3k to 10k is flatter comparing to Edifier) and mid is slightly more pronounced as well so Swans might be more detailed but Edifier is a better choice for bass lovers. Am I right?
M200 wins in terms of natural sounding speaker IMO, most balanced mid/high. Bass is a tad deeper on the edifier, Swans might sound even better with a little less >5khz though. Thanks for posting.
I like the sound of the Swan HIVI, because the placement of the sounds seem more correct to my hearing. Not overly shrill nor overly bass-ey. I own these Swans and I play them in tandem with my Audioengine A5+ for a sound experience that is unparalleled. The Audioengine A5s are also super duper speakers that deserve an audition. When my Swans and Audioengines perform together, the results are mindblowing.
The Swans have more clarity and a fuller sound while the Edifiers sound slightly muffled. The Swans are $500/pair USD and the Edifiers are $400/pair USD though.
Please review the Swan / HiVi M300MKii and/or the D300. The M300MKii is a 3-way setup with a ribbon tweeter while the D300 is 2-way 6.5" (like original M300) with a ribbon tweeter. Swan pricing has the D300 at less than the M300 mk1 at only $400 while the M300mk2 seems to have a bloated price at $900. I say this price is bloated not only because the M300 MK1 is only $530 but also because the M500 (like M300MKii but 8" woofer) is also $900.
Swan is better in almost all areas even bass although it's close in bass but the Edifier has a bit of a boost in the upper-bass or very low mids which helps it keep up with the Swan's bass while the Swan doesn't have that boost because it naturally is a bit of a more powerful and deeper bass (although it's pretty close).
To my ears via ATH AD2000X open back headphone: Close battle, almost identical for in all aspects. Personal bias favors S2000 as it has a tiny but ever so puny boost of warmness to the sound. To prospect buyers, just get whichever favors your aesthetic and wallet more. You cant go wrong with either one. !
Edifiers have cleaner, tighter bass and more open treble/mid. The speakers used as the benchmark are best, and have significantly better separation. The Swans are just a little constrained, flat and less "musical" than the Eds. The Eds deliver richer detail, and do it cleanly with no annoyance.
@@MattZildjian That's interesting. I think that, due to the shape of our ears and bone structures, people hear the same sounds differently. I know that when I force my lower jaw forward, trebles get more pronounced in my hearing. Speakers sound different to different ears. I'm really blessed that my desktop Edifiers sound so good to me. The subwoofer makes a big difference, too. Night and day.
Swan seems way closer to original as the graph in the end confirms. In video title there is MKIII+ but in the video there is MKIII, so which is it please ?
just buy one each if you can't decide which one to go for lol. They're all affordable. For Vocals listening to the Swan M200 MKIII+, instrumentals go for the Edifier S2K Pro
Never had bookshelf speakers so watching reviews now. Been always using just a speaker like my old Bose Sound Dock 2 which still runs strong, an AudioPro C10 and a set of Creative T4. Would appreciate comments on whether bookshelf speakers are better? I am looking to purchase another set for my new iMac in my study room. The edifier was what I’ve narrowed down to after watching several reviews but now listening to Swan for the first time in this review, I like Swan better, Edifier sounds muffled. The edifier however, comes Hi Res certified and BT 5.0 which are advantages, any comments?
Coming from Epos ES14 / ES 11 driven by very old exposure 20 I can say this piece of active speaker reduced many add'l. items to have a good sound in my room!
More Spinach ed wins a bit for more low end but the different wasnt that too far compared to how neutral soundsig of the swans hear the long drive, close your eyes, the male vocal of swans have a more imaging and layering, more engaging than edi not far but the mid tone imaging of swans is wonderful The high at pingpong party swans get a lil bit extended, without a siblance or harsh, when all overall aspect swans a bit superior IMHO
Kaisarantonn thanks for that. If swans were a bit more easily available outside the US I would try them. I think the Edifier mids are gorgeous. I listen to a lot of music on my main system (monitor audio gold 200 with Cambridge audio amp) and Edifier is right up there in quality.
Listening over microlab solo 6c, the edifiers appear more bassy, slightly muffled, while the swans are definitely brighter. The issue with the Swans is their hard penetration in europe, far easier to get edifiers, even easier to deal with warranty claims i guess.
For me the Eds win - wider soundstage, clearer separation and greter bass extension. The Swans sound great, high's feel scratchy, recessed mids and a narrower soundstage.

Edifier offer dry sound, Swan is more of rich sound, but Swan's highmid is thin and lots of siblilance. The swan is not good for long period listening.
For me M200MKIII wins in terms of sound quality, it sounds more open and nautral in the mids and more neutral overall. Both are build very well and are well equipped though.
Edifiers sound a bit more shallow and digital. Where as the Swans sound more lively and clear, just as a direct comparison. You probably won't notice that much difference once you're used to a set though.
Passive speaker with upgraded sound card? I have a pair of B&W bookshelf speaker intend for pc use. Gonna buy a small amplifier for my setup. Do you think it will sound better than these active speakers?
Swans sound sublime in person. Good video, both are great speakers, the Swans are £100 cheaper too, where I live. I got mine for under £300 (+ version too, i was lucky). In all honestly you can't go wrong with either pair, and when you set the perfect bass/treble for your room, and position correctly, you will be surprised at how good they sound. Note, his Amazon link is for the non + version, in case some were wondering. + version comes with Bluetooth, Digital out (Coaxial & Optical), and with a remote. Amazon doesn't currently sell the + version, but they did last week list the Swans M300.

@@MattZildjian It's because all the £300 ones have been sold off now. However, you could go for the Edifier S350DB which are excellent and likely the best bang for buck around. I have both :)
@@nicolaschallenor1120 That's interesting, I had the S350db's and really didn't like them, mostly for the fact the sub was not adjustable so while I wanted more midbass from the midrange woofers I couldn't do that without making the sub louder which I actually wanted lower, drove me nuts. I hope they don't sound similar to the swans??
The S2000 has more bass and a stronger mid range but the Swans are an incredible bargain at only $200. The Swans sound tinny compared to the S2000 on the metal head track and on the Heart Afire track. The swans seem to replicate the horns better on the Break Beat track.

No popping noises in either speaker. I would recommend Swans as a more "audiophile" choice for music listening. Edifier could be a better choice for overall multimedia use (movies, games, etc.)
Personally, I prefer the M200MKII, which has a very round and thick sound, while the S2000ProII of the Wanderer is too sharp and bright.The bass is insufficient
Not sure what's happening with both these companies. Edifier S2000 Pro MKIII is new and out of stotck? On Swans websie, everything is out of stock. On Amazon, these are hard to find except third parties (sketchy). On BH PhotoVideo, nothing, just some old Edifier S2000 Pro first version. Strange.
been looking at the M200 MKiii for awhile, not the Plus model though which isn't available here.. I wonder how different they are, they have different tweeters.
+ also has digital out, coaxial and optical, and Bluetooth too, as you mentioned, which means it has its own DAC. The + version also comes with a remote too, very useful. My friend borrowed them off me for a day to test in his living room over his Sonos soundbar, he is sending the Sonos soundbar back and gonna buy either these or the Swans M300, he fell in love with them instantly.
The Edifiers are taking huge knocks for problems with build quality, and in another head-to-head from this same RU-vid channel, the 3000's sound markedly better -- a lot less cabinet coloration, IMHO. Granted they're twice the dough, but hey.

Yes, you can just play and plug. The Swans M200 MK3+ also have digital out connections (coaxial and optical), so they can be connected directly to your PC motherboard (most have it) or directly to your TV via Optical.
I don’t like the idea that we are comparing 3 sets of speakers as opposed to two. While I understand that your reference speakers are JBL, the audience may have other standards. Just saying....
We are comparing two sets of speakers with original track. Original track is not reproduced by any speakers but rather edited stright into the video from original file, that is why JBL is completly blurred - it is not part of the comparison in any way.
