my grandpa was a driver on the GWR and later BR Western Region. He did this line occasionally and said the climb up from Blackpill to Dunvant could be tricky when there were wet leaves on the line. Sometimes they had to roll back to Blackpill and take "running jump" at it

I remember travelling from Swansea Victoria to YORK…..a great journey.

As a child I travelled this line with my parents, I still recall the magic of the journey along the bay, up through Clyne and onwards to distant lands; a great shame it was closed.

I’m not sure of my facts here but didn’t Grovesend steelworks come after Gorseinon station. I’m too new to the area to know for certain so I’d be glad of your comment. Thanks.

Unfortunately, because of the lack of importance of the railways in our society, within the UK; Swansea missed a trick here because, once they realised the heart of the city was moving down into the old Duckland area they could have made a good businesscase to reroute the main line down to the docks where.the Waterfront museum is now, and put a terminal station there. Like a brand-new Grand Central Station. Many cities have done this And just recently Belfast is the latest in the UK to do so. Unfortunately, we could not now make a business case for that as too much of the land has been built up and the cost would be horrendous. Any comments on this would be very welcome.

With relation to my last comment, I suppose they could have moved the station opposite where Tesco is now so that the bus station and railway station would be side-by-side to make a perfect interchange.
