I woke up early this morning and put this video on to watch whilst still tucked up in bed - Dominic and I watched it together! (He really enjoyed it too - he was commenting on the colours all the way through!). Thank you for mentioning me, what a lovely surprise. :) I'm in love with the 1930s set, and just as I was saying something to Dominic about the night sky blue, you mentioned that I'd love that colour - I do! Your videos alway make me feel cosy, I love them.

I'm so happy you and Dominic enjoyed watching this video! :) Of course! You inspire me a lot and I think we both find joy in talking/ swatching and using all the different kind of art supplies. I'm super happy that my videos feel cozy and warm, as those were just the feels I wanted to achieve. :)

Oooh I’d love to see the Pearl Purple mixed with a Potters Pink… I’m glad you have a set that is very ‘you’ and a set that will take you outside of your comfort zone!

I have a double water container, it's plastic and made for artists. I wash the brush one side and use the other side for wetting the paintbrush for painting. Doing it this way keeps the water clean for ages and ages and much easier for you. They are really cheap on amazon just put artist water bucket in. Love your videoes and beautiful accent. Silver definitely. My bungalow is all white furniture with velvet pale silver grey curtains, crushed glass coffee table and all silver and white ornaments

Hello Sue! :) Ouh yes, I know what you mean! I am now using two separate water glasses for this but sometimes I'm lazy and use only one. Thank you for your suggestion though! Yay for silver!

I only use metallics, pearls etc., for highlights or fine lining on originals though you can also use them on a transparent overlay and then use that to specify for print. Image editing software can help you prepare files for that so you can specify it when briefing your designer at your print studio. Useful for books and cards etc, so you know what you want things to look like when printed. It is an extra process of course so will cost more to print, but you can use these to help your print process. I think they look very nice with your decade set and would complement it. I do not yet know anything about what kind of art you make but can see instantly that the pink would go well with the purple, the two blues would go with the blue in the decade set and it is not hard to fit the remaining colours either. So I think your friends have made good complementary choices! What a lovely gift. I certainly love the decade set, it’s a lovely palette and I like it’s stormy darkness and the warmer tones are cozy in contrast. Like watching an atmospheric stormy sky from the warmth of your kitchen or bedroom! Very lovely!

Hello Lindy! Yes, I feel metallic could look nice as adding details to final artworks. Thank you so much for giving advice I will keep your comment in mind if I decide to use metallic for printing. For now I think will just experiment on Christmas cards. Thank you! Yes my friends know I'm art supply addict in a way so no-one can be wrong with gifting art supplies. :) Happy that this video have inspired you too! Have a good day!

I love looking at Choosing Keeping's website but have yet to buy anything from them, but those retro palettes look lovely. I tend to use metallics for cards or lettering.

Happy birthday! I've been eyeing Choosing Keeping for a while and 1930 is also my favorite decade but shipping fees are way too expensive in my country (literally the same price as the palette). I love the winter palette too. I think I'll go to the shop if I ever come back in England for an holiday trip.
@coloredcarol8074

Same here… I’m in Ireland, so very close but still, shipping for one small paint set costs 34 Euro! For this price I may as well fly there myself!

@@amortlepsg yes, they’re very nice, if only their shipping wasn’t so ridiculously expensive… It was already pricey before Brexit, now it’s just unjustifiable really.

Hello there! I'm so sad to hear that those sets are quite complicated and expensive to ship! Yes, Brexit definitely didin't help at all! So sorry! I feel these decade sets would be lovely addition in various art supply stores across the world!
@amortlepsg
@amortlepsg 3 года назад
@@kriksis I agree. Brexit and the pandemic also impacted UK based White Nights : I noticed shipping fees were even more expensive and they had restock problems for some palettes for a long time. Hopefully that last part is not a problem anymore. On a side note I'm curious to see what you end up doing with the metallic paints.

Some of the metallic colors change when you paint them on black paper. I think that might explain the names. I would give it a try just for fun.

It is the mica pigment that makes the pearls and metallics formula different in watercolors.

Thanks for sharing this lovely little swatching session, very calming and enjoyable :) I love using gold and silver metallic watercolor for a feeling of richness and elegance, but I don't really use any other metalics or pearlescent colors. I find it very difficult to scan or photograph the final work for prints which deters me from using metalics sometimes :(
@kriksis
@kriksis 3 года назад
Thank you Jannah! Ouh, I'm glad you liked this swatching session! :) That's so interesting to know! Do you use them often? Yes, I was thinking similar, its great for original artwork, but not so great for prints or digital edits. :)
