I hope as our Hmong brothers/men raised in America change their gender bias towards women. So sad that Hmoob women/sisters are not loved by their father just because they're born as a girl. I wish Hmong parents understand that there are others jobs beside corporate positions or doctors. We can always support our Hmong sons to go for technical skills such as plumber, electrical, or hvc and etc...these jobs make good money too and less stressful.

It's okay if your sons doesn't continue to persuade their education after high school. Don't put them down that they worked at company, gas station etc.... Everyone has a different mindset. They don't have to become a DR or a lawyer. As long as they are working to provide for their family and are happy, that's all that matters. This story made me 😢. I’m not sad for the father but I’m sad for the daughters and the heartbroken daughter died and for the heartbroken mother. You should live with regrets for the rest of the life, you didn’t love your daughters until you realized that your sons didn’t meet your expectations. Daughters or sons, they both have values. Asians/Hmong need to change this mentality that only the sons are the important ones in the family. Nowadays, daughters are just as important as the sons too!
