I am back on the SWCP for another weeks walking. Join me as I pickup the trail from where I previously ended at Westward Ho! This walk takes us through the pretty village of Bucks Mills and onto Clovelly.
Nice to see you out and about on the swcp again 👍 That village you stayed in looked interesting ,what a cool little place. Your videos are ace u deserve a load more subscribers. Nice one Paul ✌
Hey Dean. That’s nice to hear. I’m glad you enjoy them. My channel is ticking along and building numbers so I am happy. Clovelly was a lovely village. Very steep and untouched by time. Thanks for watching mate.
Hi Ant. It was good to be back. I have been very lucky with the weather for most of my journey on the path so far, I’m sure that will change by the time I get to Poole. Thanks for watching.
Loved the first week Paul, really happy to see the 2nd week kicking off - many more to come I hope. The vids are great - just the right balance of scenery and comment.
Great to see you walking again. And this brings back lovely memories. This stretch was the very first of our SWCP walking, and we loved it though it was a rather tough start for us with all the miles and the ascends. We used 8 days from Westward Ho! to Padstow in 2017. And after having reached Penzance during the next two summers, we hold this section for the most challenging so far. I really appreciate that you actually carry your drone to make aerial shots :-) Lovely video!
Hello Torunn, nice to hear from you. This was by far the hardest weeks walking I have done. Some of the days I could have quite happily split into 2 days. The drone is a new toy and I hope adds some more interest to the videos. I need to build my confidence with it.
@@pilgrimpaul7798 Yes, we thought so too :-) We luckily decided to split the Hartland Quay - Bude stretch in two and had an overnight stay at the Bush Inn in Morwenstow. We prefer to enjoy the walking days and the views and to have some time to take a look around in the places we stay overnight. And to not get too exhausted :-) It is after all our vacation ;-) Good luck in working with the drone :-)
@@pilgrimpaul7798 🤣🤣 got myself a drone now I took it on the Heart of England Way but the weather wasn't kind to use it but made good use if it on my last walk Anglesey Coast Path 😀 👍 atb daz
Cheers Ryan. I liked Clovelly, I imagine it gets fairly busy there. Lovely pint of cider in the New Inn. Hope you’ve recovered from your long distance trek.
@@pilgrimpaul7798 Well it's taken your footage to another level - literally. Very well done. It must have been a thought adding it to an already pretty full rucksack! A couple of questions Paul - Can I ask what is your day to day camera you shoot your footage on and also what drone/camera combo you used? Also, really interested to know how much your pack weighed when full? Thanks buddy, Mark
Most of the footage is taken on a GoPro Hero 9, shot in 4k with the media mod and directional mic attachment. I also do a little bit on my iPhone if I need to zoom in on a subject. The drone is the DJI Mini 2 which has a 4k camera built in. My bag on this section was lighter than the previous week as I upgraded some kit. This week it weighed 14kg including water and all my filming equipment and batteries etc.
@@pilgrimpaul7798 Great stuff Paul. Thanks for the info. I've been casting your vids onto our 50" oled telly and the quality is amazing. Love those big fat landscape and seascape shots - and those cliff top shots from your drone - magic! The image stabilisation on your GoPro Hero 9 is really impressive too. Oooft - I bet your 14kg pack felt twice that on those brutal hill ascents towards the end of a long day!
@@joymarkpotter9810 I’m not sure anyone needs to see my face on a 50” screen!!! I’m glad the image quality comes through though. One of the days later on this section circumstances mean I manage to walk a day with only 1/2 a pack and the difference it made was massive.
@@pilgrimpaul7798 it’ll get easier mate. Just make sure you’re using the UAV app to check to conditions before you fly. If anything I take too many risks with mine sending it up in 25mph winds because I just want a quick 10 second shot
Another interesting video Paul, not been to Clovelly for many years. Hope to see the next leg Before I start at Minehead next week . Weather not looking so good though.
@@pilgrimpaul7798 plan A was Monday 4th from Minehead. But with the fuel problems I’ve booked A backup coach to Taunton then bus to the start of the walk making it a day later. Kevin
