Day 13 - feeling rested after my night at the campsite I decided to carry on with my walk. Today I leave Port Gaverne and walk to Polzeath taking in Port Isaac and Port Quinn on the way.
Hi Jacky. Thank you for the lovely comment. I would recommend the path to anyone. It has some difficult stretches but it is such a beautiful place. If you have any questions in your planning then give me a shout.
Paul, great blog again, really enjoying your SWCP adventure The drone footage is amazing, looking forward to your next sections west Cornwall/mounts bay lizard, 😎
We are loving the drone footage, these videos have been so inspiring we've just got back from a few days away driving the South West Coastal route as best we can .... some of them roads were so scary lol - Minehead to Tintagel done, taking in as many sights as we could... I might not be able to walk it but i didn't want to miss out :-)
Great film making of the swcp. Stunning scenery. Summer 21 I did Minehead to Barnstable and Exmouth to Lulworth. North Cornwall is on my to-do list. Looks tough but your vid is inspirational. Thanks. Loved the Ice cream joke..
Hi Robin, thanks for that. When are you planning to take on the North Cornwall section? It is tough in places but was worth the effort as it is beautiful and unspoiled.
@@pilgrimpaul7798 Probably Easter onwards. I'm semi retired so can pick the days I go. I meant to comment on your Hartland vid but somehow wrote on here ! Enjoy your travel next year....cheers.
Just did Port Isaac to Padstow on Saturday - amazing weather and very picturesque - some steep bits in the first few miles - but not bad after that. I think this has been my favourite section of the whole SWCP so far. As always watching your video was essential preparation - pint of the local cider a must on completion !!
Wow! Love those eye watering seascapes you manage to capture so well Paul. And your drone shots just highlight the majesty of the SWCP. Captivating story telling too. I strongly suspect your subscribers will increase considerably given the quality of your work. Great stuff....
Another great video mate, Drone footage great too, should have dropped it into Lundy Hole through the arch!!! I've got a Mini 2, great fun, keep it up mate, Steve
Cheers Steve mate. That would have been high risk low reward flying, I would probably be asking Father Christmas for a new one if I had tried. I saw some of your drone pics on Facebook, great fun isn’t it.
Nice one Paul, finish with a pint or two. That’s what I do. I’m a bit behind on your videos, so will try to catch up. Lynmouth towards Bude next for me in April.
Something about having walked all day, the sun and the sea that makes me fancy a cider. Probably be a coffee if I were out there this time of year though. That’s a fair distance. Some tough bits after Hartland on the way to Bude.
Hi Paul - I have been watching your series of videos whilst in a 14 day quarantine abroad - isolated in my hotel room going crazy! These are difficult times and stretching my patience as a keen walker who just wants to be out in the fresh air, breathing in the beauty of the English countryside. In particular the SW coast! I am all booked to complete the whole 630 miles through April and May, in 46 days. I won't be camping, I am too old for that at 60, but I am tackling it in a relatively quick time with some days up at 25 miles for the day! As I sit here, bored to tears, I cannot wait to start the trek, and your videos have motivated me even more to get going - I just hope Covid doesn't prevent me! I wonder how much time you take each day setting up the fantastic shots incl the drone, and how much this slows you down. I have one particular day when I have to walk from Padstow to Newquay - do you think this is manageable; I am pretty fit and realise it will be a good slog, but it should be achievable yes?
Hi Malcolm. Sorry to hear about your isolation. I hope you are doing ok and will be out walking again soon. 46 days is a very respectable target. I pretty much follow the itinerary in Paddy Dillons guide. Hard to know exactly how much time my filming adds, I would imagine at least an hour each day. I like that it slows me down and focuses my mind on trying to pick out the beauty and points of interest to share. I have recently done the Padstow to Newquay section, but I did it over 2 days. It was quite easy walking compared to what you would have covered on previous days. I would say it is manageable in a day if you are use to covering those sort of distances and have a reasonable level of fitness. What I quickly discovered on my journey is that it’s not the distances that are of concern, it’s the ascents, they are very tough in places and can really slow you down over the course of a day. It is a great trail and I’m sure you will have the time of your life. If you have any questions I’m happy to answer them. Thanks for watching.
Paul, I have so enjoyed watching your SWCP videos, the filming, the music is just great. I feel inspired. The commentary is very entertaining too and at times I am falling about the place laughing. I liked the green monster scaring the horse and your list of dead things you had seen - classic! Keep up the good work. As a resident of tropical Australia, I feel concerned you are not protected from the sun, but maybe the English rays are less harsh.
Hello Heidi. Thank you so much for the message. It makes my day when people send me such nice things. The sun here is certainly not as intense as what you experience, but I do still take precautions. I always wear my hat and sun lotion ☀️
Hi Paul hope you are well just sat in the tent just before Boscastle hope ending at Padstow maybe Sunday or Monday Hartland quay to Bude what a killer 😬🏃♂️like you Paul I have got to get back to Taunton then to westbury what was your way back from Padstow Paul cheers Paul Stewart Wiltshire via Padstow take care Paul it’s been tough Paul no doubt nearly two weeks now ready for my own bed and some Beans on Toast 😄👍😬
Hi Stewart. You are making good progress. It’s a tough walk to Boscastle, a few steep sets of steps. From Padstow I got the bus to Newquay and then caught the train home. I’ve just checked online and it looks as thought if you want to get to Taunton you can get a bus from Padstow to Bodmin and the catch a train to Taunton.
What a beautiful section and another wonderful video. Thanks for bringing us along. I’ve got as far as Westward Ho! I am looking forward to the next stretch but likely not until spring now.
Thank you. Yes it was a great week of walking. You have some tough but rewarding sections to look forward to. I may fit in a couple of day walks in the winter but probably won’t do too much until the spring.
Beautiful walk. I remember this scenery when I walked from Port Isaac to Rock/Padstow in July 2017 in full sunshine 😃 I think somebody then mentioned the 4 unforgiving valleys from Port Isasc to Port Quinn and after that it would be more level. And it was correct 😄 Ypu are making some lovely drone shots too. It is great to follow you along the South West Coast Path. Thank you 😉
Thank you Torunn. I loved this walk. It made a massive difference having the lighter pack. The area around Rumps Point where I flew the drone was beautiful.
@@pilgrimpaul7798 Yes it really is beautiful there. We walk with only a daypack each. These walks are a part of our summer vacation, so we treat ourselves with staying at B&Bs along the way 😃
OMG! Kissing gates! Yes me and my husband do this as well! Now my 2 year old daughter likes to join in as well. Once went on a walk with a big group of friends, and made them all kiss each other as they went through every gate 🤣
Rattler that's a bit potent 😉 what sort of weight is your pack. You can't put a value on super light pack I've spent a small fortune getting my weight down and still not happy 🤣🤣
Not sure on my current weight. It has come down significantly from when I started. I have upgraded a lot of gear and learned what isn’t needed. It would def be lighter if I didn’t have cameras, drones, batteries and power banks to carry 😂
