It's a beautiful city for sure with all the water, greenery and old buildings but Norrmalm isn't the coziest part. They demolished a lot of old buildings to modernize in the mid 19-hundreds. I wasn't around then but I'm sure it would have more charm if they renovated more in stead of rebuilding entire blocks with"cold" office buildings. At that time they wanted to erradicate poverty, dirt, unmodern appartments etc, which is understandable but you can also do a lot with renovation. And at the time accommodating for car traffic I guess was "the future". EDIT: This only applies to some quarters in this footage, like 15:40 In general Stockholm is a beautiful mix of buildings from different eras. :)

@@frida507 The socialists wanted to eradicate the bourgeois history and life style from the capital of Sweden. They said that themselves (Hjalmar Mehr, Joakim Garpe, et al). That's why they started to demolish the heart of Stockholm, and that's why they already in 1932 explicitly made it almost impossible to get a bank loans for renovation of buildings built before 1930. The demolitions started in 1952, but made the worst and most brutal damage during the 1960s, Luckily, the oil crisis in 1973-74 (and a few other factors) made it stop, and even gave the socialist a pause to contemplate what they had done. Realising their action would perphaps make them lose the next election (which they did). Otherwise, the plans after massacring Klara was to continue with "äckliga gamla Strandvägen", as Joakim Garpe so charmingly phrased it. (Today, one of the most prestigious addresses in Stockholm.)

@@nettitus There is a lot of italian delis. You might find many different olive oils in Hötorgshallen. Italian food is probably the most popular food sort in sweden. But our pizza is different, but there are more italian pizza but they are more expensive.
