The plural for lärare should be lärar and the plural for magiker should be magikern and päronen should be the definite singular of päron and päroner / päronerna should be the indefinite / definite plurals - plurals should never have the same form as the singulars!

Hi Joaquin, can I say that words ending in: "e", "el", "er" , "en" or with other consonant in the end we can use the indetermined plural with "AR"? And in foreing words (not swedish words) use "ER" in indetermined plural? The last one I don't no if it's make sense, but I heard this explanation. Tack så mycket

Great video as always! Just one observation: For the longest time, it was extremely disorienting for me that indefinite plural forms (äpplen) and definite plural forms (päronen) of ett-words look deceptively like the definite singular forms of en-words. Seems like something that should really be highlighted as a likely source of confusion, because many beginners will likely see forms like äpplen and conclude that this is an en-word äppl + the definite article singuler -en.
Год назад
that's exactly what I'm struggling with! It's very confusing!

Since it's a loan word, people just declined the word spontaneously when it made its way into Swedish. Since there is already an o there, it's easy to just connect it to the native -or ending, I guess. Good one! I didn't think about this.

Is there a rule to help know the difference between groups 2 and 3 of the "en" words? Both consonants, AR vs ER. Like with the "polis" example. Do words ending in "s" usually have the "er"? Or is this just learned over time?

Hello! Maybe someone in the comments could help me - I'm writing a story, and I need a word in Swedish, that a parent may use as a term of endearment. You know, dad calling his daughter sweetheart, princess, troublemaker, stuff like that. Is there a word for that in Swedish that is very popular in families, or just commonly used?
@sayitinswedish
@sayitinswedish 4 года назад
"Gumman" for daughters. "Gubben" for sons. Only used when addressing them directly, not used when talking about them.
