For all the mystery that surrounds them as a group, this interview is the closest I have ever felt to them. A brilliant deep dive into the cohesion of the album and anecdotes of the production and personal experiences of making it. Thanks Zane :D
I met Steve outside a club called Avalon in LA after he played around 2009. He was such a great guy and so warm. He was cool and talked to me for a while and gave me a hug and photo. When I was about to leave a homeless guy asked us for some money and Steve gave him a handful of cash. The look on the homeless guys face was priceless. I’ll never forget that moment. Steve is truly great producer and person!
I love the three of them. However, watching this interview, I can feel and appreciate how important was Steve in this whole project. He is a true artist.
Zane Lowe, GOAT interviewer - love how he's a fan like the rest of us. No matter the artist or genre this guy's love, respect, knowledge and admiration for music comes across in such a pure way. Apple...don't let this guy go!
@@daryllverstraeten9459 he's by far my personal fav the way he interact with them, but who is better? i've been looking for some other great interviewers
What’s impressive to me is how he even remembers certain moments and situations that happened at their concerts that he visited over 10 years ago. The amount of artists and concerts this guy goes to and still being able to recall those small moments… unreal how good he is at connecting with artists.
When I first heard Moth To A Flame, I can clearly hear SHM's part without even seeing title name and artists. That's THEIR signature that I could hear. I really wanted more of that throughout the album. Although I still liked the album, I was hungry for more of those signatures. Going to see them this August!
Just saw them this past week at Coachella, by far one of the best live performances I have seen in any type of festival. So happy they came back together and performed, will be a night I will never forget.
2:40 It definitely helped to keep Swedish house mafia as a main talking point that some of the most important songs in (specially) Axwell and Ingrosso’s big sets were the OG songs from SHM
I've just started this - but hats off to Zane for Sitting lower than his guests. It's a humble thing you don't often see in main stream talk shows. EDIT: Is that Apple Musics grow room when not shooting? That is some expansive concrete and light. A bunch of little autobots move the furniture out the way and shuffle the plants back in to their happy place when shootings over :)
No. It’s a massive car garage studio in LA that has been hundreds of music videos, the dark knight LOL. You can like rent it out for a few hundred a day
This interview gives us an insight to who "Swedish House Mafia" are really are. We usually see this depiction of Swedish House Mafia as a legendary EDM trio, and not just the people behind them. It's a good way to, in a way, know them a bit better.
58:46 the way Sebastian Ingrosso talks about Fred again.. & borderline fan boys over him... honestly relatable lol 🥲 like even they know just how good he is...! loved hearing about their collaboration. TOTLA & Calling On are such good tracks, can't wait to hear what the unreleased one by Fred ft. SHM will be !!!!
I'm so happy for them. Been an fan since day 01, back in the good old days for almost 11 years. Seen them back together not as djs but as family again, makes me happy. They're the ones that made me into house, into being a DJ and changed a lot of my personality somehow, specially Axwell, the man that i follow every step. Loved the album, its been on repeat since the release. Hope to see them live one day!
44:41 first I was like you really nailed it with the setup aesthetics for this interview but since Steve himself changed the chair it makes perfect sense why is that lol
They are 100% right. The first time they probably hated it because they did it for need more than because they enjoyed it; But now, they are all extremely successful, there was no need to come back together, but they are doing it because they enjoy it, and that is when they perform the best.
This is a tremendous interview. I love getting to hear from the 3 of them. It's great to peer in behind the curtain and see how they operate. Love the new album and can't wait to see them on tour.
it was 2005 when i saw steve angello & ingrosso back2back and they smashed the club from that day i followed alot steve angello i seen him 3x more & there will be more a truly talented legend swedish house mafia gl for more its good to have legends back & produce beautifull music ❤️❤️
SHM coming back with this music is also us coming back after the pandemic. We worked hard, we got sick, we got hurt, got the time to heal and think without pressure. This is us. Their music is all of us. Theres a reason why their the best at what they do. Music is all about emotions and being together through tough times and through happy times with music. I think their music is all about being united. And thats why they got back together,
Zane Lowe!!! My my my! You are a unicorn in the world of bs journalists and so-called "interviewers"; you know how to make people want to share and discuss their work, feel comfortable and you also know what you talk about! Loved this and many of your other interviews! So good! Keep it up!
When I’m old and grey, I can tell my grandkids that these guys made Electronic Dance Music on an astronomical scale, selling out stadiums, had a rave in Madison Square Garden, closed every festival they play at
thank you so much you did an absolute fantastic job on this interview! i was so excited about this and it really told the story that needs to be told i feel closer to them after this and i am just thankful that we can whitness another chapter of the swedish house mafia
I am soooo happy this brilliant interview pop up in my feed simply inspired ✨ 🙌 💖 P.s. almost forgot can't wait to see you this summer in St.Pual, MN I bought tickets as soon as the pre-sale started!! Us Swedes in the states are so happy you are coming to are small market. And welcome back! Love the new album!
@@arya_shm you are wrong. Dont get stuck in the past. Electronic music has many subgenres, not only one. move on! I liked progressive house but I want to discover new sounds too
They are amazing, love them since the beginning, but honestly, didnt like the album. Yeah, is way to different, i love they are trying to expand or seek new sounds and stuff, but its risky sometimes i guess. Love them anyways, such an inspiration.
It will grow on you, keep giving it a listen. It’s different. We’re used to progressive house from them (which is my favorite genre) but the sounds and music from this album are really genius. It may be one of the best produced edm albums ever.
Guys. Don’t ever try to eradicate your foundational music. We love the new stuff and us loyal fans will always be there but brothers… don’t you worry child is a part of your legacy! Lol u literally can do no wrong in my books tbh I been there from day 1 and I’ll be there till the end ✊🏼
