Queen Silvia is the daughter of the late Walther Sommerlath and his Brazilian wife Alice, née de Toledo, also deceased. Her maternal grandfather was Artur Floriano de Toledo (1873-1935), a descendant of King Afonso III of Portugal and his concubine Maria Peres de Enxara. The Sommerlath family lived in São Paulo, Brazil, between 1947 and 1957, where Walther Sommerlath held various positions, including President of the Brazilian subsidiary of Swedish company Uddeholm.

I may not be the most democratic form of goverment, but the monarchy represents a history of 1000 years of Swedish kings and bring a continuety that no elected presedent can make. And the Swedish monarchy is totally unpolitical - the king has NO power what so ever - he is a figurehead that stands above politics and helps unite the country. @juzu4me artists over here. Many of the popular games today have been produced in sweden, like the battlefield series for example. Minecraft is a popular game that has appeared recently...and we are 9 million...don't you think there is a relationship between the sucess of sweden as a peaceful secular unreligous country and the life index? One of the best countries in the world to live in...you might ask if I'm a nationalist...no, but I'm very proud of swedish culture and our folktales.
@juzu4me Now I'm the interviewer, what will you do with your life if people loose interest in hearing or seeing you ask other people questions? Have you got a backup plan, or if that happens will you live in a super market for the rest of your life? Asking questions anyone can do, you better develop some skills before it's too late.

@juzu4me I would never want to leave sweden for perhaps norway or new zeeland. The fact remains, your better life index is statistics anyone can go and fill in. Who do you think fill in these reports? Canada has 35 million inahbitants sweden has 9 million. You took that report from an english site, how many do you think from sweden has gone to that site to submit their life standard? Plus it seems to change drastically from year to year which means it is not accurate.

He has interviewed madonna, Kizz, sweden's prime minister, Brad Pitt and a bunch of other celebrities. He sais newspapers will dissapear and be replaced by the internet. Radio will be replaced by "radio" from the internet. Anyone will be able to speak out on the internet. It's the same with television, youtube will replace television. This means "accurate" news won't be as important
You don´t know what you are talking about, The Swedish Royal family doesn´t have any power, they are only a symbol for Sweden. We do have a democracy, The King and the queen just sits there in their big houe and that´s the truth.

The most popular movie this year was pirates of the carribean and Harry potter. Harry potter? Would you seriously call that one of the best movies ever, these movies are popular because of the action...and the special effects. in a monarch system respect and accountability is even more neccesary to be earned.. becuz there is way more thin line to walk and very little room for mistakes to upset the people monarchs serve.. hence its a very very difficult job even if one has inherited it. i'd rather be elected n take a few years of bashing than being at risk for it my whole life, dont u think?? kudos to the monarches who managed to be in the good graces of the citizens they serve...
@juzu4me world. Agnetha in abba not being among the great...abba is just a small band in sweden, we don't value them as much as other artists within our country. There is like pop and there are classical music. Sweden has many great singers. Just like canada has...howard shore. Although that is your ONLY good composer. Anyway, the classical cartoons from america. Pinoochio and snow white...lead designer was a swede. And those two movies are considered one of the best of disney.
@juzu4me anymore, and there will be less of a demand for people like you going out and interviewing people. Celebrities will slowly blend together with the general population. You maybe don't realize it, but the main countries in the world where celebrities are BIG stuff. Is in America and great britain. There are no celebrities in Russia....they just blend in with all others. So I can't see a way you will be able to do this in the future. It might be profitable for a few years.

@juzu4me dependent on material possesions. I mean what would you be without the "status" you have, or the thing you precious the most. Wtf would you do without your house your transportation and your clothes. You would be nobody, certainly not better than me. Also where do you think this will lead you down the road, in 10 years you will be just one ant among many going for the same things. @juzu4me Scandinavia is famous for being 1. The only completely atheistic country on earth...no one except 89 year old senile women goes to church. 2. We haven't been in war for 200 years, canada can't say that. We have a rich economy and a very small military. But we are big producers of high tech military equipment. @juzu4me far behind, you might say this is because canada has much more people. But this is relatieve to the population of the country. Sweden has like 900 women in jail and 4000 men. And we are 9 million people, that is less than 1% of criminals in sweden. Our education isn't poisoned by religon and our results are better...although not at the par with japan and china. @juzu4me Actually there are many swedish languaged movies that you have probably never heard of that bypasses many of holywood's movies by far. Especially Avatar which was a total TOTAL ripoff of pocahontas, ripping of other authors is not something to be proud of. You can be proud of titanic...but the only reason that movie was good was because of the music and because of leonardo dicaprio. Not because of a fat canadian sitting behind the camera shouting our orders...
