Sweet Briar College's closing signals troubling trend

I am a bit puzzled. Sweet Briar College did not close. The Save Sweet Briar initiative succeeded. The president was fired, the Board of Trustees was reconstituted and funding was provided by alumni and friends of the college. Enrollment is up, as of September 2019. It is a success similar to Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA. So why is this video still here?

If only the degrees were only worthless. The sadder truth is these years of brainwashing common sense leave these young people less capable of navigating reality.

Its their damn fault. Mismanagement of their finances and allowing the student body threaten the professors, staff and other students. Today's Colleges are a cautionary tale.

So many comments blame the leftist orientation of faculty, others deny that orientation. They are both wrong. There is a strong leftist slant in college faculties, but it has little effect on the viability of the schools. The root problem, in my analysis, is trying to make an academic institution into a job training center. About 60 or 70 years ago America bought into the idea that a college degree brings higher earnings. The truth is the other way about: those with higher prospective earnings are the ones who go to college. Trying to get everyone a college degree is merely a waste of resources, degrading education for those who can truly benefit from schooling, and wasting employment time for those who can't. We have to focus on the allocation of real resources. We take young people ought of gainful employment, delay their job careers while they do nothing of value for four to six years, and then are surprised that we seem to be wasting resources. Of course the system is not viable.

Really sad to see small schools close, in the same token..who wants to go to an all male or female school?

So what happens to the people's diplomas that did graduate?

Well, let's see, one way to lower costs would be to lower salaries. And with all the love for socialism, why not pay the staff like they do in Cuba: $400 a month. And the students could do the campus upkeep. If this would save the school I'm sure the students could pitch in, once the school "raised awareness" about the problem.
