Sweet Gum Tree (Liquidambar) 

The Sweet Gum Tree is one of the nicest looking trees to grow in the garden. They produce glossy star shaped leaves that turn brilliant colors in the autumn. And they typically grow quite uniformly making them great to plant in rows or in public parks. Althooooo they do have the spiky seed balls which can be quite obnoxious for bare foot walkers or lawn mowers. If you are thinking of adding a new tree to your yard, definitely give the Liquidambar species a look.
