@@richardwalker5673 I thought the same when I was younger because I wasn't truly interceding on behalf of others. Five children later, there is so much to pray about in this wicked world, other family and church family and the lost family members and you will find yourself praying for an hour. It shocks me to hear that from Christians yet we can make time for entertainment for up to two hours. Once you know how to add worship and thankfulness to your prayers and then petitions, you will marvel at that sweet hour of prayer.😊
@@richardwalker5673 completely in agreement with brother Ephesians 2... When you enter in the presence of God you don't to do it as a ritual. That's why you find it boring & look to get out of it. When you do it wholeheartedly you don't want to get out of that presence & you will put God first in your daily life so you with the Holy Spirit will accommodate your time to give the first fruits to God & then you will have countless testimonies from putting Him first in your time & how he changes your worldly cares routine to your benefit because of your faithfulness.
My mother always had sweet hours of prayer...after years of alcohol abuse,her prayers were answered.God took me to say and as took me back to God 46 years ago..Praise Him.... 8

God healed me of covid and bronchitis and double covid pneumonia the sickness gave me a heart condition and I got healed of that as well. I had to use an inhaler because I had moderate covid it was pretty bad

This was my mother's favourite song we would always sing it in worship at least every other day the last verse was her favourite ....and shout while passing through the air farewell farewell sweet hour of prayer this as become one of mine favourite every time I sing it in my devotion it brings back those evening worship miss her so much.

Years back when i was at Rusangu Adventist Secondary School, in Monze Southern Province Zambia....I loved the way the School would sing this song with great emphasis and with desire to seize that evalasting, and its like the spirit was with us when singing this song....and i remember how closer to God i would feel, i love this song
I, too agree with some of the statements below--we are missing the hymns of the past that are rich in love and worship--often penned from the lowest times in the writer's pain--turning to Christ. I love a lot of the contemporary songs, but these jewels are passing away and it is so heartbreaking. These are the songs I grew up singing!!! I remember and I love them so dearly!!!

Each time the hymn is sang to my hearing it does all things but one bring back the memory of my late mum and how restful she must have been in heaven just that it hasn't been able to bring her back to life. I love you lord remind her she is loved and missed till eternity.

Easter is my favorite time of the year! So many beautiful hymns are sung to the glory of God. This is the time when we reflect on the love of our Lord who suffered on the cross for our sins!!
@trukeesey8715 I am just curious. Do you believe it is pleasing to God to celebrate Resurrection Sunday? Or should we simply follow the pattern of New Testament Christianity and take the Lord's Supper in remembrance of Christ's sacrifice? I like the focus on Christ's resurrection yearly during the week leading up to what the world recognizes as Easter, but I also realize that Easter is pagan and was instituted long before the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. Now we are about to enter that week of the year and I find myself questioning what is the right way to go about it and give answer to those who are offended by my non-participation.
This is to all denominations: If Acts 2:32-33, 37-47 is your Scripture of the Day, this is a good hymn to compliment it. In April 1998, a friend of mine died from injuries in a traffic accident. This was sung by the choir at his funeral.
we sang this song as a family at my brother's sudden passing, over and over and over again. he was a wonderful gentleman, hardworking, was ambushed on his way from work. we are still sad because we loved (and still do) him so very much, a young man with a promising bright future ahead of him. But we believe that in the sweet hours of prayer the Lord will comfort us.

My Aunt sang this final song for my Dad on the phone during the Covid lockdown. He found peace and solace in this song until his demise the next morning.

Prayer is indeed the most powerful force on earth and amazingly, we can pray anytime and anywhere without an appointment and with the assurance that God hears and answers every prayer.....sometimes with a yes, a no or simply with a wait. As food is to the body so is prayer to the soul. A soul without prayer is a spiritually dead soul. We are connected to God through prayer!!
