I remember Domino being played at all the adults parties when I was younger. I always wonder what happened to him and why people always thought him and snoop sounded alike. I believe he should’ve went further because he had his own style. Great video!
SNOOP recently revealed in an interview, that Domino used to write his lyrics in Jr High. They are child hood friends. Snoop used to Freestyle and Domino wrote lyrics. Snoop tells the story, it's on RU-vid !
He also said they had a group minus Snoop called Foesum I believe and one night they went to perform outside of Long Beach and got booed Snoop rode with them there got pissed grabbed the 🎤 and then battled the whole room😂 this is same night I believe he battled Kurupt, what a story

The Domino comparisons weren't to Snoop at all, but to Nate Dogg. He got overshadowed when Warren G's "Regulator" came out with Nate Dogg on the hook. They were all from Long Beach, which got labeled with the G-funk style that was popular at that time. Then groups like The Dove Shack (Summertime in the LBC) and then Montell Jordan on the tail end had a similar style to Domino and he got overshadowed. He was never in the same lane as Snoop, but definitely one of the first pioneers of the rapping/singing mixture.
People compared Domino to snoop all the time. I’ve never heard anyone compare him to Nate, but I get what you’re saying. Growing up all I heard was him being compared to snoop. Thanks for watching.
Highly underrated ive got his debut album Physical Funk The World of Dominology & Remember Me all on cd hus great just wrong timing 😢but we'll never forget Ghetto Jam Sweet Potato Pie classics
I remember domino in 1991. He was staying with my friend and her mom on orange grove and pico in Los Angeles. We would all hang out at her house, it was the spot. He was dating and older woman at the time and had a baby with her . He was so cool. He never came back to thank my friends mom for looking out for him, when he had nothing.
Domino's videos were also played on "The Box Music Television". Also Snoop Dogg's name used to be longer, Snoop Doggy Dogg. Thank you for at least doing a video on Domino & mentioning both the movie "Tales From The Hood" & Domino's song on it's soundtrack. I personaly never heard people in 94 comparing Domino to Snoop though. I think Domino's career went down the tubes, cause, he changed his style to more of Pop music, on his 2nd album in 96. This is my 1st time hearin' of your videos. Peace & much respect!
I remember when domino would ask me about his lyrics to ghetto jam and sweet potato pie I told him those two were the best to work with at the point and time havnt seen him sense.
It had to be the promotion cuz whatever that boy touched was dope. To this day if I'm chillin w a feline them first 2 album is on rotation to set that mood right.
I love your contacts the similarities I don’t see how anybody could ever mix of domino he was hard he was ridiculous and the boys so nice at his stylings of music. You can pop in today and still bang it hard in your system.🎶🎵🎼 and you speaking on Chloe Bailey. This girl is the business. I love her. I love her style. She was original doing it and she’s not like Beyoncé at all. Beyoncé is a clone of a clone of a clone. She’s nothing like she was when she was with the group, Destiny’s Child but Miss Bailey is dope if you guys have not listened to her try to give her some love and check her out. She’s hard to see you while you’re at it go bump some of that domino, especially the tales from the Hood.
Domino was everywhere in West Africa, Nigeria back then, blowing up. Unfortunately, they wouldn't show up because of the false perception of Africa being propagated by American TV, thanks to today's internet.
It's not a false perception and you're delusional to think we are clueless enough to trust Africans in Nigeria..... Africans are taught to never align themselves with Black Americans....
Crazy Always heard BattleCats Name but Dude Kinda kept his Face out of the Public. Not like a "Puffy" or Even Suge. "You wanna come 2a Label where the producer ain't all in the Videos" 🤪
Last time I saw this dude he was at my ppls house on Vermont and 88th st at a family get together back in like 07-08 I wish I could post the pic I took with him on here
That’s a bunch of BS because if anything Domino was more compared to Nate Dogg and I honestly think that’s why he didn’t get as much as attention as he deserved because he was definitely doing it first. I don’t know where people got the notion that him and snoop were similar because I grew up in Cali, and I never nor anyone else that I know have ever said that him and snoop sound similar. I honestly think it was used as an excuse not to market him a certain type of way. I think snoop felt insecure because we already have Pac and Snoop was jealous of Pac due to him being more of a favorite. And snoop at some point so may have felt they have to not Domino off in order for Snoop to have a position in the industry.
Don't think snoops career affected Domino's career I just think that the record labels just distanced themselves from him coz he had too much close links to the crips coz of his part on "Bangin on wax" that's my opinion anyway 😢 Domino was 1 of my 1st introductions to West Coast Rap/HipHop 🩵💙💯💯
Domino never sounded like Snoop Doggy Dogg to me...never. But Snoop came out before Domino...he already featured in 1991 Dr.Dre"Deep Cover"...n was all over "The Chronic" album 1992. I never compared Doggy Dogg with Domino...beside they both represented Long Beach
Yeah, he sounded nothing like snoop nor Nate Dogg however, him and Nate Dogg have a little bit of similarities due to the G Funk era . They both had that in their music and for some reason the industry felt like we couldn’t have 2G Funk artist that were able to sing and rap. They gave all the shine to Nate dog and even though I love Nate Dogg, it’s not fair because Domino was doing it first.
