Recipe:
2 cups flour
1 cup fine durum semolina
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 cup sesame seeds lightly toasted
1 teaspoon cardamom ground
2 tablespoons anise seed ground
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon Mahlab
1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon orange blossom water
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup clarified butter( pure samneh)
1 cup warm milk ( added gradually)
Sesame seeds lightly toasted to garnish
Simple syrup:
2 cups sugar
1 cup water
Juice of half a lemon
Mix together in a saucepan.
Bring to boil.
Leave to simmer on medium heat for 10 mins to thicken slightly.
Remove and let cook completely before immersing the Fritters.
