Lisa, be very proud of your dad. He was part of the most inventive pop/rock band of the 70s. Whilst I love The Sweet catalogue from beginning to end, I listen to Turn it Down and I hear the birth of punk. I listen to Cockroach and I hear a band nipping at the toes of Led Zepellin. They were a one off, in a very understated yet OTT English way. Much love xxx

@@Toni62R That's right Toni, they had more Hits in the 70's than ABBA, though ABBA had more Hits in the early 80's. Fact. They were never under rated, they were massively popular and radio supported them totally. They were huge in Australia, they tore up the Charts. SWEET are legends of the 70's.

Glued to the radio we were, to catch a glimpse of anything new from Sweet or Slade. Teenage Rampage was the perfect new song from Sweet after Ballroom Blitz. Bubblegum Pop transformed into perfect Hard Rock. Sweet is one of the most underrated bands of the early seventies.

Sweet, a band in my opinion that bridged the gap between glam and punk, with hits like teenage rampage and hell raiser they just opened the door enough for the punk explosion that was about to happen. They were an important band for both music and culture in the 1970's............thank you for the memories.

I remember singing "little Willy, willie wont, go home!" at the top of our voices walking from the train station to school and being told off by a teacher. "Sorry sir, but it's a hit sir, on the radio sir!" and laughing our heads off. Some of the happiest times of my childhood are linked to these guys.

Die Musik meinerJugend hatte diese Bezeichnung verdient.mal laut, mal leise, kraftvoll, dynamisch mitreissend, aber auch sanft und herzbewegend. danke, dass ich die erleben durfte.heute hingegen......na ja. War auch Sweetfan. Hab aber nicht chr gerafft was fuer eine Band dass wirklich war.....
