This is a good inverter. I bought the 24V 3000W version after watching this review. Been running for 8+ months. It doesn't get hot even when you run it at close to 3000W output for longer periods of time. Coolingfans starts both when it get hot and when the load is over 1500W. Best chinainverter so far.

Great video, really appreciate the detail you went into concerning the build quality. Nobody should be running a 12v inverter to generate 3000W AC though, you can buy a 48v version of this model. 1/4 of the amps, higher efficiency everywhere

48 volt battery bank will have to consist of many batteries to have sufficient ampacity. What would be a typical configuration? I have four GC2 six volt batteries crammed into my boat just to have enough 12 volt capacity for house loads. I don’t ever intend to draw 3000 watts from my inverter.

That's not as easy for some to just "get a 48v version" you would need to have a completely different battery set up if you are using Lithium.

I have had this same inverter for the passed 3 to 4 years, still going strong, I did had to replace the 2 fans inside as they burnt out last year but great inverter. 👍

My cooling PWM fan circuit failed from running it in 110+ degree heat at 75% load running a RV ac for days. So I wired in a few bi-metal disc and it's fans come on at 45 Celsius and have never been a issue again. Owner caused and owner fixed.

Fans burn out due to cheap inverter design. Measure the voltage going to the fans...in my case, the 12v fans (absolute max spec is generally 13-14v) were getting powered with 18vDC. They'll run for a little while, but eventually WILL fail. I added a buck converter to mine to drop the voltage to 12v on the fans. They should never fail again--well, partly because I've ditched the HF inverters anyway ;-)

Hello Daniel I wrote yesterday to SWI They told me that the inverter you show us here is not available yet , only in end of April or may. So I guess they made a prototype upon your wishes. Glad I found your video! I've been trying to decide on a 2000 watt inverter for my popup truck camper. I'm installing 400 watts of solar and have 2 x 100ah lithiums. I just swapped out the old converter and fuse box for a new one with the switch to charge lithiums. Looks like the 2000 watt SWI will work for what I need. I only need one plugin as I'll run an extension cord from the inverter out of the old vent hole around the front of the camper so I can plug the shore power cable into the inverter. I wired up the new converter to it's own breaker so I can switch if off when connecting the short power directly the to inverter to avoid the "loop". Thanks again! 👍

I ran a 6 amp drill on it while it was powering a 1100 watt microwave and it did not have any issues. So it appears to have extremely good stability.

10W power consumption in idle is really good. Most cheap inverters in that sizerange will consume 20-30W just to be turned on. Thanx for this review. I´ve been looking for a good inverter with a higher overvoltage protection setting. I take that the 24V version shuts down at 30V? My current one turns of at 29V and it is sometimes causing problem in halfcloudy weather when the charging voltage seems to jump a bit as the sun reveals. I´ve had to drop the bulkcharge voltage by 0,3V to avoid it shutting down.

~8:23 - that is the filtering cap for spwm. Nothing to do with starting. The reservoir and filtering capacitors (more to do with starting power and surge power) are the black cilindrical ones in the hudreds or thousands of microfarads at ~450Vdc. The filtering capacitor (or capacitors) are in the 1...4.7 microfarads and witht the choke or chokes, in the range of 1-4mh, next to it form a low pass filter that smooths out the very rectangular pulse width modulated current coming from the fets into a clean(ish) sine wave. A big filtering cap could mean a better and smoother sine output with less distortions and better ruggedness to spikes but nothing to do with surges, loads or starting. It actually wastes some energy and pushes it back in the choke, where most of it becomes heat, making the inverter use some extra power without any load but there would be no usable energy coming out of the inverter without it. Anyhow, thanks for sharing, I do enjoy seeing the guts of these cinese inveters. Sometimes is hilarious to see the gap between their undersized components and eye watering exaggerated ratings :P

Nice informative video. @10:13 is it a transformer or a coil to filter out the AC, in the LC circuit! The 4 transformers behind are the ones doing the heavy lifting, from the low voltage to the high voltage, and its the MOSFETs behind in the heatsink which are chopping the DC from the batteries into an AC waveform. May sound too technical but the education of the viewers has to start somewhere. Its not only a question of figures, but understanding the topology of the inverter. Keep it up.

I purchased this one from amazon. It worked great until it started to give off a smoke smell and the failed completely. It failed when plugged in a 1800w mini hot water heater in my van. I returned it to Amazon and got a different brand.

There are a few that look identical, you need to make absolutely sure you're getting the SWI.. mine is doing fine so far.

What are the MOSFET part numbers? How did they implement the current limiting? Does it have DC output detection to disconnect the output if a MOSFET or controller fails and causes a high power DC output? All inverters should be tested by running them to full load in a 45 degree ambient and then repeatedly short circuiting the output at least 10 times.

Man I received 2 of these both broke. The first 1 the package was bet up n the fan was broken so a replacement was sent only to find out 1 of the outlets was DOA. The outlets seem very cheap

It has alot of similarities to the reliable inverters, I have 4 of the older reliable inverters, 3-3500 and 5000, all of which put out close to their rating, and have been great, no issues, turning on fridgerators, freezers, well pump, lights, tvs, air conditioners, etc in our home, but they are a high freq, and don't dare to push past their limit. I have Schneider conext for bigger things.

Great review, what happens if I use this inverter in a car with the engine running? Lets say I want to run a small microwave for a short periode of time, or a coffee machine or similar device that pulls around 1500 W for say 2 to 3 minutes?

3000 watts is a pretty big ask for a 12v system. At 3000 watts one should really be considering a 24v system. If you jump up to 6000 watts or more then 48V tends to make a whole lot more sense. Then again beyond 2000-3000 watts, a LF inverter is a better choice since they have a much bigger surge rating and handle inductive loads better.

@@JOHNDANIEL1 Bro Carpal tunnel is an easy fix Load up on Vit B6 and Zinc. then put a rubber band around your fingers and open and close them ( a rubber band exercise ) in a few weeks you'll see major differences

The little white things probably slot into the slots on the feet inverter to insulate it from the wall you mount it on. That way the mounting screws contact the white plastic things rather than the feet of the inverter. Edit: I see you mentioned it in a later part of the video. Oops hehe.

The low voltage shut down you showed was at about 11.5 volts, but the ebay ad shows it to be 10 +/- 0.5 volts. Did your input voltage to the inverter sag that much when you turned the heater onto high or did it shut off at 11.5 volts? I want to buy one for a lithium battery setup where I would like to be able to run it down closer to 10.5 volts before kicking off.

Não aterre o inversor DC ou a bateria DC a qualquer coisa, a menos que esteja aterrado em um Carvan, RV ou carroceria. Não os aterre. Um inversor é uma eletricidade criada de forma sintética, não uma geração que requer aterramento para criar um circuito.

In today's economy and current conditions worldwide I would recommend 12 volt, most people really freak out when you tell them that because they've been sold on the idea you need to use high voltage. However the higher voltage items are harder to get you'll see it video on my channel that explains it you'll have to look for it it shows I think a picture of some solar panels drawn out and about 12 volt explanations.

I used your link to buy one of these inverters. Runs the air conditioner in my camper beautifully. I have to use an extension cord because the GFCI plug on the AC unit won’t plug directly in as you noted. I was going to hook up a dedicated plug but the hardwire connection has no polarity indicated. Meter shows current across terminals but no current to ground. Ground to the case is isolated. I used a hand held led bulb and got power showing from both terminals. (Poor boys polarity tester). Which terminal is hot? Shouldn’t they be marked?

26:22 - Hate to be so critical as I'm a fan of your videos, but you should have probably done that since it's a chinese inverter after all... unless the unit is forced to endure max continuous rated load for some reasonable duration, then the review is not thorough. We also don't know how it will cope/behave under the rated surge load. From your review, it seems like it can handle up to sustained 1500W load quite fine, but no guarantees beyond that. The visibly beefy internals are definitely assuring, but unless put to a real test, nobody will know what those components can really handle... Caveat emptor

That's not the batteries , its a crap inverter , you're not the only person to review them. They work good but not to the specs .If it can really do what it says hook it to your big battery bank and lets see.

I ended getting one ,like you reviewed, and it's magnificent. Put it thru hell ,Driving 2200w kettles, slow cookers, and various other stuff, with no issues!!. I'd recommend this unit over and above others at 2 to 3 times the price!.. Just looking at the internal gutz, like you did, says it all ...Cheers Johnny

Most of them seem to deliver what they claim, some problems with overheating in the summer though. This one looks like it has better quality components than they normally have?

Where is the low voltage alarm buzzer? And how would I go about removing it/quieting it down? I have a Renogy one but I assume they're all designed roughly the same.

On the renergy models, which are actually very different, there is a little round disc in a plastic body right behind the voltage balance control board. It will have a tiny hole about a 16th of an inch in diameter and it looks like if you shine a light there's a small coin in it. Taking the tip of a toothpick if it reacts with a little resistance that's the piezoelectric buzzer / beeper that activates for your low voltage reaction. But in all honesty running a renergy at low voltage is a hell of a way to blow out your mosfets. Proceed with caution when dealing with any of these because they do not have an actual grounding circuit it's a floating ground to satisfy electronics.

_Nice to see you back, with a video. So, I'm assuming that you're adding, well, multiplying 1.25% to your need for continuous use for watts from an inverter that is needed, or ÷ 1.25% from the original inverter watts, i.e., 3000 watts would be 2400 watts in reality, yes? Kind of the same thing for fusing, yes? I would like your opinion about fusing, for protection of electrical components. I like to downsize my fuses to blow before the damage is done. Most people I know will say to fuse at the max+. That has never made sense to me. Example: 3000 watts [ they say ] peak is 5000 w for 12v system. I would stay at 200 amp fuse protection, but I definitely wouldn't go over 250 amp and not add in the 1.25% on top. My reason is you what to protect your components, and fuses are cheap compared to an inverter. If you did it the way, most do 5000 ÷ 12 = 416 x 1.25 = 520. My thinking on that is you just smoke your inverter with, and if someone can produce that kind of Amps from a power source anyway batteries or the from the grid, they'll have much bigger problems like fire and explosions. Or am I thinking about it all wrong? Your opinion, please, thanks!_

Best inverter methods are never exceed continuous 60% on them no matter what brand or price range and you'll be fine. As for fusing, I go 20% under wire rating, 10% under device rating and so far so good.

You mean what you need is much more than 2,000 w. Something with a mega-sized transformer in it and you'll likely have to step up to 2/0 wire. My power about the same stuff in my cattle truck and have been respectively for 3 years using one of these. amzn.to/33dfHhK Worth every penny and tough as nails. These do not get damaged from the heavy starts and charging of a semi truck like most inverters do. This style of inverter will also allow you to add charging abilities for either plugging in the truck to AC power, solar in some cases and it manages your charging cycles to improve your battery life.

I noticed you have the duracell 6v batteries. do you have any experience with the 6v duracell from sams club? I am considering them. locally they are $97 each plus core.

Those at Sam's are made by JOHNSON CONTROLS. Same as most Walmart batteries. They'll probably last five years but you're better off spending the extra 30 bucks a piece and buying the real East Penn manufactured. I put a link to Batteries Plus under my videos usually so go in there and check them out they're a little higher amperage and just a few dollars more but you can get a full 8 years

Refrigerator and freezer yes, I never tell anyone they should run a heater of any kind on inverters because of the load is absolutely constant and you'll destroy your batteries.

Short term yes. But I recommend a lpg direct vent heater added to your system so you can avoid that heater load on your car. Cheaper over time to do that.

Mine does, both a washer and gas drier at the same time. But it depends on the washer. Those so called "super efficient" washers are energy hogs like barn pigs getting into your garden. Their ratings are scams.

It would be helpful to know what the standby power draw on that beast is. Since the ebay link does not state standby power it's probably pretty high. I' m estimating 30 watts standby power if you subtract your fan power from the initial reading. The standby power will kill your battery bank rapidly if the inverter is left on continually with no load.

After revisiting the link, I did find a no load spec. @ 1.6A. This would equate to 20.48 W @ 12.8v input voltage. Still quite respectable for an inverter with a 3000W power rating.

Tough Tools, Lights without a ballast, high amp AC to DC items like cheap MIG Welders, and for quick use lots of normal uncomplicated tools or equipment. Long term use, I recommend to go pure sine, and high or low frequency means nothing now days. Save 75% and just get the high frequency and a great filter strip like a Furman 6B amzn.to/3MI4iJx and nothing can't run good on it. Money saved, buy some extra good Power Queen batteries!

It has a direct wire capability, but not sure about an internal switchover relay. Probably need to use a manual source selector switch (rotary) to choose whether battery or utility power is energized for the home 120 system

You can't connect solar panels to inverters. You'll need a solar charge controller, 12 volt deep cycle batteries and then the inverter you have will run right. They do make an inverter with a built-in solar charge controller but even then you still need batteries because the inverter requires bulk charge to operate.

Yes, but for the pump start surge I recommend the 3200 ebay.us/aZ87MX for a few more dollars, it has much bigger boost ability for motor start up. We run a 1-1/2 horse 120 volt pump 1130 watts run, 2980 watts start on one with no issue, 3 years now.

Computers do not need pure sinewave inverters. Their power supplies are switch-mode and draw power from the main smoother cap, fed by a full-wave bridge rectifier. Transformers and motors need pure sinewave. Like fridges, air-conditioners, vacuum cleaners transformer-type power supplies. *** Give this comment a like if you agree ***

Even with a transformer to a laptop you should use pure sine on computers due to the I'll effects modified can have on the BMS in the battery. Modems and copiers tend to fail from modified wave over time too.

Thank you for the information. I live in New Orleans and Hurricane Ida convinced me that I need a backup power source. Most people seem to use generators for that but given the fuel efficiency of a car engine, the dramatic reduction in CO1 emissions, the relatively huge gas tank, and the storage benefits (generator size v. inverter size, fuel storage) I am thinking of using my car as the generator with an inverter. In your video you talk about the number of batteries needed to get to the 3000 watts the inverter is capable of but, does that change if the engine of the car is running all the time? With the engine, can it produce the 3000 watts? I would like to run my refrig/freezer unit, two portable 6000 btu Air-conditioners, and a desktop computer (including scanner, printer, monitor). The rough estimates for those devices comes right under 3000 watts. Does that seem right? Would a 3000 watt inverter be enough? Or, should I go with 4000? But, the whole plan goes out the window if I need 8 batteries to produce those watts. Thank you in advance for reading this and taking time out of your day to answer it. Mark

Tool batteries are not wired to handle and inverter, they do have some versions that run electric lawn mowers and even some that would work as a UPS battery so they may function partially for that. But a 48 volt inverter would disconnect at about 42 volts and would not run long on a 5 amp battery, you would need at least 4 to 5 of those batteries to run a 500 watt inverter. But there is a solution, you can run a voltage converter off your batteries which increases their amps and getting off the shelf 12 volt model of inverter.

@@JOHNDANIEL1 I see. I saw several 36v inverters of various wattage outputs. I'm thinking that this range would be more effective with my battery type. Using blocking diodes and adaptors 3d printed for that battery type that I could parallel several together. The have a high discharge rating. I use mine with many yard tools including my chainsaw, lawnmower, weedeater etc. I have over 20 ryobi 40 volt 6ahr batteries. Would like to use them in my shop to power bench tools. I have made several powerpacks for my home to power internet, lighting, TV etc. Solar charge by day use at night to offset my electric bill. Now wanting to increase my capacity for the shop. Just my thoughts

As far as high signal noise the power bright has some they can cause a little tiny distortion in some LCD products but this one does not. The power Brite can truly handle a 2600 watt surge but this one can only handle a true 3300 watt surge but for the money this little one sure looks good
