I saw this video some years ago and it is so clearly explained why these drills work, that it completely changed my perception and understanding of swimming technique. The images of this great swimmer made it instantly clear what he explains and what to aim for yourself when swimming. For me, it was the start of my own swimming becoming way better. So a big thanks!
me the same! I am a completelly different swimmers now after the first time I watched it a few years ago! It is the perfect explanation because the guy here is NOT for views but he works with athletes and he is professional and not just a random guy making a video for views. This is why this makes the video usefull and perfect!
my daughter, who's nearly nine and relatively petite in her squad, seems to be fighting her way in the water, so to correct it, we watch together some portions of this video every now and then, it summarises so well all the techniques that I struggle to teach her.😊
4:29 narrow stroke, swimming side to side, cutting the water; keep your back straight and your eyes down; use six-beat kick, moving side to side 6:00 overwater recovery sets up a high-elbow catch. Drills 7:20 establishing the core of stroke; light kick 8:00 rotation and posture; straight spine, drop jaw back, raise the head slightly, neutral position 9:24 twelve kicks or (six kicks) and transition; make the transition smooth and straight; could add a little bit swimming in between transition. 12:02 one-arm drills 13:46 three-quarters catch-up drill 16:38 drills with a snorkel 19:07 catch and throw drill
As a swimmer, women in the water just look so much better than men. And no, I'm not just talking about looking sexy, they just have such a better flow in their movements and natural bouyancy.
This is the best video for learning free style swimming. David Marsh explains it very clearly, what are important, and why. Rada Owen ,the swimmer, is really really showing how to swim free style efficiently. An inspiring video. Big thanks.
What a wonderful tutorial, the best ever, great for those in their learning process, a lot of details and excellent explanations. Moreover, the model, swimmer, a good one, has phenomenon skills. I am appreciative watching it, feeling thankful, thanks very much! Thanks for tutelage!!
This is so brilliant and helpful and thanks a million Leslie. In one short tutorial you have solved all my problems with freestyle. It’s amazing your insights into the common problems faced with this technic. Your articulation makes it so easy for me to understand and follow and therein lies your genius.
Laurence Corray Leslie is the name of the account, not the narrator. 0:40 David Marsh and 1:36 Rada Owens are present tho. Did you not watch the video?
@@lzszl Is it not okay to thank the account????!!!!! My "you" refers to Leslie and the narrators. Is it necessary for you to be so petty!!!!! You must be having a troubled life to be so petty????!!!!!!!
I am 56 and a new swimmer....This is the best video tutorial I had seen....I am doing freestyle with Flat body position and bcos of this style I am getting tired very soon...Now, after seeing this video telling to swing around side to side kicking and reducing water resistance really helps ....Will practice your techniques in the pool....Awesome tutorial....Thank You So Much...🙏🙏🙏
Very educational. Do not think i will be able to do all they show and explain. After all the video is more about competitive swimming than recreational one. Wish i could swim that smooth.
I have been doing those drills for the last 25K being in the pool and must admit I progressed my front crawl pace from 2:20/100m to 1:35/100m and still working on it so definatelly recommend to anyone who wants to make a significant progress :-)
This is great. My 100m time is 2:17. From today I am going to do all the drills in the video every day. Dear Tomasz is there any specific issue that I must follow. Thanks in advance.
Wow, my absolute best 100 time is 1:47 and it's nowhere near consistent. Consistently in in the 2:04-2:09 range. If i could do 1:35 that would be amazing
Anyone know how to fix my problem? When doing the rotating drill from side to side my hips drop before I complete the turn onto my side. My hips come up after a sec or 2 once I’m completely on my side. I don’t have anybody watching me or recording me but I can feel it. Trying to master my body position and rotation and need some guidance on how to fix this issue!
Late reply, but are you lifting your head to breathe during this movement? If you are, your lower body will sink and then once your head is back to being face down, your lower body will rise again. Check what are you doing with your head and see if that makes a difference.
Best video on the RU-vid ! I have watched so many video to learn freestyle, still can’t get it. However, after watching this one, I can swim 6 freestyle strokes right away. Thanks for explaining the freestyle so clearly 👍👍👍
Every time I see this video I learn something new about kicking technical who's provide support to most heavy part of the body position thanks again greetings from Mexico
Thank you so much... I have learned freestyle looking at people at diff pools and my freestyle is as bad as it gets . Your step by step tutorial is just excellent ... will start from today and I hope I get all the parts correctly !!!
I have a 16 y/o high school swimmer that is stuck at 23-24 seconds in a 50 freestyle. From the deck, I cannot find anything wrong with his stroke. What more can he do to find 1-2 more seconds? He has great take offs, breathes 1 time the 1st 25, has pretty good flips and never takes a breathe on his 2nd 25. Is it really that hard to cut more time once they have plateaued?
For a 16 yo, if he really has his sprint technique mastered (start, stroke, and turn), he has a lot to gain from 1; strength training - most hs swimmers dont take this very seriously but it pays huge dividends (especially in sprint events) when really focused, and 2; dolphin kick. If he has a wicked fast reaction time and great start, working on strengthening the dolphin kick can really bolster the transition to breakout and speed after the turn.
Thank you for this fantastic detail analysis and great underwater examples. The best I’ve seen over many months of videos, and struggle. M. Scottish Highlands.
"We're not trying to pull in freestyle, we're trying to set the catch and move our body by the hand". How I wish I had known this during all my years training as a masters swimmer
