Let's face it, Slinky, my Asian water monitor lizard, is pretty much everyone's favorite reptile at the Kamp. I love interacting with him and it doesn't get better than letting him loose in the Aquascape rec pond in the backyard and swimming with him like we do today!

That was exciting! I love watching Matt interact with the animals, too. Slinks is the best! For being a huge predator, he is so gentle taking the Croc bites from your hand & even the rat! Just love this big guy!

What a wonderful surprise.... Slinky's innate instinct to be wary about large bodies of water makes great evolutionary sense, and his reaction to Freida was fascinating. Matt was right, his body language changed. And he seemed very wary about going in ! But who can resist a big, juicy RAT ! Wonderful !!! And love your commentary, Matt... and your willingness to enter the action ! This video was GREAT !

I was in Sri Lanka last week - at a beach front restaurant with a fresh water stream down the back. The chef came over and said come look at this. I had no idea what he was going to show us but i wanted to see. It was a water monitor about 1.5 the size of Slinky. I wish I could post photos to RU-vid comments. It was so cool to see such a large monitor within touching distance. Apparently they feed him fish heads and he comes by the restaurant pretty frequently and is a friendly boy.

Ahaha I love how the bonk didn't even phase him 😂 It's so interesting, it looked like slinky's tongue hit Frieda, and that's when he recoiled; I wonder why 🤔 Glad you and Matt had fun with him! It's good to see him out, and him "flying" will never not be funny 😂 I do have a question: you always hear not to feed wildcaught animals primarily due to parasites, and so I wonder what is the risk of that here, and are there any other possible risks/benefits? He's such a cute, good boy💜 He didn't even eat Matt's toes! 😂

There is low risk since there food source is provided by us, but you have to always be on top of the critters and watching their beviors to detect health issues early. Anything can happen. - Tom

Woah 13:26-13:31 reminded me of that scene from Godzilla Minus One, when Godzilla was chasing the boat and we could just see his head going through the water! @@KampKenan i think your pretty good at keepin an eye on that stuff, oh and about the cycling, you said losing your biceps from the cycling, that's somethin i always hated when i would start cycling again, but now that i'm 48 i'm like screw it, yes i'll keep upper body mass a bit, but i don't want it to be bulky, and i'm not gonna be a pro cyclist so now it's just about balance, no extremes one way or the other.
