The best version of the 'Swing Radio England Story' with greatly enhanced audio and colour corrected video. Great shots, insights and unique footage from the 'Golden Era of Offshore Radio' + interview with U.S. program director Ron O'Quinn, who today can still be heard on Europe's airwaves on Radio Mi Amigo International - www.radiomiamigo.international

Great time to be a teenager. The land based follow ons never quite captured the same spirit.

Walt Disney and his automobile dealer friend and business partner Ernest Mortimore. founder of Disney entertainment international limited and UMG record company and promotions. Recording studios in London, Montreal, New York, and later on LA. Ernest Mortimore had a club he liked to go to in Miami and often recruited american dJs from their personally. Walter Disney had a bet with Ernest Mortimore to see who could get out on the North sea and in the West Wind Sands first. Ronan and Jim beat Don and Tom by a week. Coroline was out on the North Sea and on the air 1 week before England. Some how Swinging Radio England's aerial insulators and some of their aerial wire ended up on Caroline. Sad that Ronan O' Rihiley passed away this past April. 20/4/2020. Not sure if Don Person is still around or Tom. Jim Stevens is still around and doing well. Don's son can still be heard on Caroline 648 khz 106.7 meters from time to time. Also Mike Japanskie is doing really well in LA. Know him ans some of his family quite well. HIs some of his fans meet his sister when she went with him to Felixstowe to one of the offshore radio weekends. Ronan Quinn Dennis Swagart passed away three years ago in a care home from lung cancer. A former electrical engineer. Worked on Caroline, Laser, and Laser's week long US publicity stunt RNYI radio new york international. Also the former producer and call screener of his friend Jeff Rothstein Ric Harris Laser 558 his voice is on all the sweeps. His show Coast 2 Coast AM. They would often play all the pirate music for bumpers. They both worked On Caroline too. Dennis was Blake Williams on Laser. I think they also were part of Carolines Barry Marsh Miles Johnston's land based FM pirate station from a small peninsula off Belfast Kiss 103. Broadcasting 1 mega watt of power to the US, UK, and Europe in the early 80's. 28.20 Jimmy Mcgill aka Carolines Jimmy the Surf Murph. American Texan left handed Surf music guitarist, actor and ceo UMG records, Disney entertainment international limited. 28,2 Jimmy Mcgill aka Jimmy the Surf Murph. Ceo UMG records Disney entertainment international media inc., and American actor surf guitarist he was wold famous for his upside down guitar playing. Appearing in Mayberry occasionally on the Andy Griffin Show. Secretly worked with the offshore stations all though the 60's. 70's, and 80's retiring after managing his last station Laser 558.

If the DJ s on the off shore radio stations .in the middle 60s came ashore they would have been arrested .but now if your the right colour and in a rubber boat with no papers you will be welcomed with open arms .how times change .😱😱😱😱😱😵😵😵😵😵

Thanks for uploading this version. It's far superior in quality over other versions. I met Don Pierson years ago in Eastland Texas. He was a fascinating person and quite the radio visionary and between Big L and SRE he definitely left his mark on radio in the UK.

Rob. I think your father trained my good friend Allen H. Weiner. He wrote a book about his pirate days some years ago under the name Allen Yoder. He was also a part time fill in Disc Jockey on the Miamigo. He worked with Barry Marsh, Andy Madison, Dave Porter, John Marks, and his two friend the late Dennis Swaggart, and Dr, Jeff Rothstein. Blake Williams, Ric Harris on Laser 558. They took her over from Long Island, NY to Dunnie Cove bay were she was repaired and repainted and the transmitting equipment was modified.
