Personal service and Air France... yeah, gonna stop right there. About the meal complaints: On the MCT-DXB Route they don't give you a big meal for one simple reason: You wouldn't be eating anymore when they serve dinner to their DXB passengers which also have to get dinner. So they serve this little kind of snack to keep you from totally starving untill they can serve all passangers a full dinner after DXB. The Emirates flight includes a whole meal simply because it is simply the flight DXB-MCT. They don't have to worry about later joining passengers.

I usually love your videos and reviews, but I have to disagree with you on this one Dan. I've flown them several times SFO-ZUR and have always been impressed. Seat, food and service. Maybe its that odd routing and your 91yo grandmother coming out.

@@annadaae26 Are you the 777 or A330? on the 777 I do like the throne seats when flying alone, although you'll pay extra for them. I know a lot of people don't like them because they are a bit tight. But I like having my own space and not share with a stranger.

Completely disagreeing on this one. I think the Swiss Business class product is one of the best within Europe ( of course you cannot compare it with the likes of Qatar, Sing., etc. But they’re just a different level) Maybe give it another shot ! :)

The irony. The only time ever I flew business class was on Swiss, back in 1998 or 99. I loved the experience. I used KLM in 1995 when I moved from Hamburg to Chicago with my cats I h.d asked an employee at Schipol to see to it that they get some ice cubes, which did not happen. THe poor kitties were rather dehydrated when we arrived. I have not used KLM since. :-)

I am regular flyer with Swiss (and Lufthansa) in premium class. Off course the limited service is because of the red-eye flight. In Zurich you can have a extended breakfast at the Arrival Lounge where you also can enjoy a shower. I am very happy with Swiss and Lufthansa and it gives me a good feeling to know that the staff gets a fair wage and worker's rights are respect. I've heard "rumors" that it is a totally different story at Qatar airways and Emirates...

Hhmm, seems like you got the short end of the stick (The Swiss touch can be pretty nice...) on that specific route-midnight flight on a medium haul flight with a stopover. Generally Swiss is much better than KLM and way, way superior to AF, at least on the flights over the Atlantic.

The meal so so small as it was late in the night. That is also why it is called a “ mid night snack “ It’s mean to be a snack not a meal. Secondly the Emirates flight was during the day so obviously you get more food.

I used United miles for a roundtrip from/to LAX recently. To Europe on Swiss, to LAX on Austrian. I thought both experiences were just fine, no complaints at all. I do always enjoy your reviews, but this one was a bit harsh. Still gave the video a like.

You must get really unlucky because I believe it depends on the route I work for the Swiss and Lufthansa in BOS we get high ratings our flights are never an issue unless cancelled or delayed it depends on the crew and the route not the product ALWAYS

Gonna have to disagree with you here Dan. What Swiss is going from them are individual seats in J. If you look at United or its sisters airline Lufthansa business class has twin seats meaning a neighbour you have to step over or be inconvenienced by. I'd also argue that you shouldn't judge service quality on every route. Clearly MCT > ZRH is not their flagship route and doesn't attract their best and brightest. Try ZRH > NYC or ZRH > TYO.

I didn’t think it looked too bad, but that stop in Dubai was a little awkward. The deal breaker for me would have been the lack of air vents and a hot cabin. That’s a sure way to make me a sick, unhappy passenger! Nice video, as usual!

PointsTravelHappiness - thanks mate, for the reminder! :D Well, I flew the route ZRH-YYZ with Air Canada (B777) and YUL-ZRH with SWISS (A330). I must say that I was impressed by the service of LX in their business class. The service and friendliness of the crew were fantastic rather than onboard the Air Canada flight to Toronto where the crew was pretty strict and did their service in a hurry. Also, the food: quality was much better on SWISS than AC. It seems like LX has higher standards, in my opinion. However, you had a more extensive collection of beverages and menu options on Air Canada. The seat wasn’t the best on SWISS but understandable as it is older than on the B777 of Air Canada. To sleep, it was a bit uncomfortable as the seat wasn’t vast. IFE was better on Air Canada but somewhat decent on SWISS as well. Overall, I think SWISS was much better in their soft product than Air Canada. Of course, every flight is different, and Dantorp might have caught a flight not so good than mine. Also, it was my first flight with SWISS in business and in comparison to my favourite airline, Cathay Pacific, maybe not on top but definitely within my Top 10. But I would fly SWISS anytime again!

Actually, I really wanted to fly United Polaris but I had to grab these tickets for the low price of 140k United Miles per ticket. I'm hoping Swiss is better than Polaris ;). I wonder if they will let us use the Polaris lounge at EWR.

I had a downright nasty experience with Swiss a few years ago, where they were completely unwilling to accommodate the disability I have. Won't get into detail but Aeroplan handled things extremely well and rebooked me on Brussels Airlines without any change fees. Had absolutely no problems on Brussels Airlines either. The strange thing is that the product is actually better on Brussels Airlines because all the single seats are Throne seats, save for one.

I'm surprised you had such a bad service but I think as many have put it, it's an overnight flight where it takes place completely at night. I fly MIA to ZRH often and the full dinner service is a 5-course meal. It's such a nice service that it takes almost 1.5h to complete which if you are trying to get some sleep, 1.5h on an 8h flight isn't worth giving up. I usually just ask for the main course or express meal. FYI travelers, express meal on Swiss, the FA literally goes into the galley and gets you your meal first.

Swiss Air will not compensate travellers who buy business class tickets when the entertainment system fails and the seats do not work. That is a fact which I have experienced recently.

Business on a Swiss a330 ORD-ZRH was far better than a recent Delta 767-400 JFK-FCO. No, it can't compare to my Qatar flight ATL-DOH-SIN, but not much can...maybe Emirates or Etihad. I'd say the food and service on Swiss were on the same level as Cathay Pacific on a HKG-JFK flight. Guess you had a conspiracy of bad coincidences.

This may be a dumb question but on any connecting flight,Do you have to go to baggage control and pick up your luggage and check in with the suitcases onto the connecting flight,or is that automatically done since you checked in the baggage on the initial flight...otherwise if not,,most people will miss their flight surely.be too much time wasting right??

SUGGESTION: I invite other subscribers to thumb this up or down. One of the reasons I think the cooking channels are so successful is that there is something immediately gratifying about looking at food, you know we're seeing it prepared but looking at food and seeing people taste it. Sounds nutty right? But I think there's something gratifying about that. I personally think it would really add something to your kind of new travel entertainment channel if you were to give us a bite by bite review of what you're eating. Like that breakfast looked really good but then you pant to yet another shot out the window (lots of shots out the window; don't need that many). But would love to know what the crepe looking things were and did they taste good, what did they taste like? I think you would be excellent at this Dan. "Oh this is creamy, a little salty.... quite delicious." Let's see what other subscribers think of that idea. As always enjoy your videos Dan and keep up the great work!

Thanks for the info and your watch looks super-cool and ritzy but at a better price. As far as temperatures on aircraft, you are correct that it should be left to a neutral like 70-72F temp and just let the customer adjust downward with a vent to turn up or off.

@Santa Clause - I'd actually choose Swiss, Lufthansa, Austrian ( StarAlliance) or Iberia (OneWorld), although their domestic product is cramped. Cannot comment on KLM for the lack of experience.

Swiss and Switzerland are unfortunately too overrated in my opinion. Even if you go to a restaurant and the service is half given and you get literally half of what you pay for - quality speaking. Good video, i hope the swiss heads see this.

Oh, I like the transition to more 'aviation entertainment'. Really enjoyed the video. I think that LX is under constant pressure by LH to be as profitable as possible. Inevitably, that reflects in the product/service.

I am Swiss and avoid to fly Swiss Int airl. as much as possible. As long as there is another direct flight or a good 1 stop flight for long haul, take it! Also on short flights there is no difference to easyjet and other low cost airlines, as Swiss also doesn't serv anything and has tight legroom, but charges double price.

I totally disagree with you on this one. Flew Swiss business from Zürich to Bangkok in 2021 and it was amazing. Friendly efficient service, great food and the seat/bed was comfortable.

The wrap on the first sector looks vile...Overall the hard product seems decent, however the soft product looks like Economy (plastic-wrapped bread rolls and pastries in Business class is just not on, especially considering the level of competition on ME and APAC routes...). I should call myself lucky that I reside in Singapore :)

You guys think oil is magic!? Many countries have way more oil than all Arab Gulf countries combined yet they failed ! Examples : Iraq / Algeria : Iran / Venezuela / Angola & others. We have small population, we have better investments & compared to the region we are the least corrupted. Open towards the world welcoming all people from all faiths although we’re not perfect we still have many primitive laws specially in terms of freedom of expression. So you’re wrong our airlines are competitive because we want the best & first also we’re not too greedy , generosity what we known for since we got nothing but pearls & spices. So it’s not fair to justify other companies horrible services while gulf airlines hard work & good investments goes as “oil money” .
