Swiss Army Volcano Stove 

When I was active in the swiss army, we used the stove seldom with wood. It works way cleaner in combination with the "Notkocher 71". That's a clean Methanol-gel burning heat source. (I use the same one since my active time, it an easily be refiled over and over.) This volcano stove can also be used with Esbit dry fuel tablets (don't transport them in the bottle, it's toxic!) or with almost any DIY tin can Methanol burner. As best, it works in combination with the famous "Borde Brenner". Hint: If you want to clean it superb, put a pill of dental prothesis cleaner in water and submerge the whole stove in this water for a few hours. It will come out clean as new!

Interesting vid - never saw this stove/ kettle before - used to the Kelly volcano type. but as for cleaning soot: Man! that's your fresh supply of Army camouflage ON a can! Great swiss Idea.

Great video. I have a couple of those stoves and I have found them to be amazing. I have had great luck in using them with solid fuel tablets and trioxane. I carry two small thin tent steaks that I use with this stove and I put a can of soup, chili beans, etc. etc.in it as well. Again great video!

I've always used a "Fancy Feast" cat food can with "Heet" yellow bottle alcohol. It brings two cups of water to a boil in five minutes, and leaves no residue on the cup, or stove.

If you use a cut off bottom of a shaving cream can as a burn chamber , your stove will be cleaner . Cut the top off the bottle and a modern water bottle will fit within and use the old bottle as a boil pot . Don't use the cup to boil water since it gets sooty and difficult to clean

Yes it will fit in a maxpedition bottle holder Shanewade302 and scott Williams this would be a good pack 2 keep it in allowing u to carry it with a few accessories or strapped to another pack

I have this stove, try putting some tin foil around the bottom of the cup and bottle to keep it from getting black, it will save clean up time. Also putting a pipe clamp around the neck with a wire that will fold down, you can then boil the water in there and using a stick or something, take it out of the stove. I am looking for a separate pack so I can store it, if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate a response.

I use trioxane fuel tablets, hardly any residue, it accumulates on the bottom inside, flakes right off when it cools.

I use the Trangia Spirit Burner Alcohol Stove on my Volcano Stove. It make it legal when fires are not allowed!

Just take a scotch brite type pad and a little soap clean up should only take a couple minutes. Looks like a great idea.

A British Army basha tarp stuff bag is a perfect size to keep it in, to keep your pack clean, it could have been made to measure.🤓

I love this stove, i like its fuel versatility, though i hate the cork, its dinosaur technology that is. How difficult would it have been for them to put a screw cap on initially. Crazy Swiss

May I suggest a piece of ceramic tile on the board, under that unit? Just to keep the board from smoldering.....

I guess I missed the boat on these. Nobody seems to have them anymore!

I store nothing inside the engine except combustibles (wood, starters, etc). Better to burn what turns black than try to clean.

Anyone know if this stove will fit in a 10×4 h2o holder made by maxpedition or condor??

If you rub the outside of the pot with soap the soot will wash right off,

you could build your own with food cans

This just a can with holes in it.I can make one in 5 minutes in my kitchen from a juice can.

Why do everyone have to boil water,we get the picture. Cook some food.

needs a lid! can't escape clean up, fact of life.
