Does this color go well with honey oak trim, cabinet, Door?? Or maybe white dove, alabaster, Pure whites better with honey oak? What white color would you recommend with honey oak? Soooooo hard to decide the color....
I did sample it on mine. I currently have abalone bm and it went purple. Been living with it for almost 4 years and I’m over it. Swiss coffee looks great so far and I think I’m gonna go with it :)
This color is at the top of my list to try in our new winter home in FL. Thank you again for hitting the nail on the head, you answered all my questions about this color.
This was such a great video to watch. Thank you so much! I've been struggling to find a good wall color to go with my Swiss Coffee trim (my favorite trim color). I really like this color so I think my walls are going to be this one too - just a different sheen.
On your recommendation we used Swiss Coffee in a remodeled room and simply white baseboards. It is beautiful! My husband is working with our friend who is a contractor. He said it was beautiful combination. Used Chantilly Lace for the ceiling. We could not be more pleased. Get the Samplize 8x11 color sheets which really helped! Thanks James and have watched you for sometime and enjoy you.
Thank you for sharing your experience, and sharing your choices for ceiling/trim with the Swiss Coffee. It's going to make my life easier. I intend to use Swiss Coffee as an all-over paint choice in my rustic home. And, will be trying your ceiling/trim paint choices, as well. I'm so excited. When we moved into this home, the previous owner painted it in dark colors (the bedroom was dark brown on all walls). I'm going to have to paint my house twice, once with primer to cover the dark colors and then Swiss Coffee. I prefer light and bright, myself. Now, all I have to do is convince James to offer up a color palette of complimentary choices for Swiss Coffee. lol
So if I chose to do Swiss coffee on my walls what off-white would you recommend for the trim if I didn’t want it to also be Swiss coffee? Chantilly lace?
Our LR was previously painted Navajo White which has aged into a dull creamy yellow. Swiss Coffee is in the lead to replace it, but my sample is looking a bit muddy. Perhaps that's just the contrast of the same on the NW?
This is a beautiful colour and I am absolutely tempted to use it all over the house. If I paint basebords with Swiss Coffee too, the ceiling is white... what color should I paint the doors? Would Swiss Coffee be ok since the basebords would be the same color? I would really appreciate knowing what you think about my questions, we are preparing the walls now, so we still have time, a lot of fixing to do. Thank you in advance! I love your videos, I have watched so many, very well done! 😊👍
We had so many projects to do… we have one room finished, the solarium… walls, ceiling, BM Swiss Coffee Ulti-Matte… baseboards and doors, Swiss Coffee as well, but in pearl… it is absolutely beautiful! And we had shades made by Hunter Douglas… it is absolutely incredible, the colour matches perfectly… so it is the plan… throughout the house the same.
I painted my ceiling and 1 door of my large bedroom Swiss coffee and most of the molding and trim. I love it! The walls are witching hour and the combo is amazing!
I just bought 4 gallons of this color because I want a warm off white color based on your video! I can’t wait to paint it in my living room and bedroom
Do you ever do Kelly Moore paints? My decorator suggested KM Swiss Coffee for the trim and KM snip of Tannin for all the walls of the house. I’m also wondering the difference between all the different paint companies versions of “Swiss coffee”. BM, KM, Behr, etc. Love your videos!
I’m looking for a soft white that would look good with beige (yellow undertone) tile. My current walls are beige and I want to tone down all the beige in my house. I also don’t get a lot of natural light. Any suggestions? This Swiss coffee looks beautiful.
Hello! Thanks for all your videos. Please can you advise a color that would be good in a mountain house with a lot of blond wood? Off white? Greige or grey? ( on the light side please ).Thank you!
I live in a basement bedroom no natural light. The room in size is a queen mattress and a half wide and two queen mattresses long. I have orangey oak flooring, same for my vanity and cabinet in the room. I'm considering painting my walls, trim and ceiling with swiss coffee and maybe do an accent wall at the head of my bed (wall facing the doorway) in a soft warm leaning sage green. Opinions? Only lighting is a flush mounted ceiling light, soft white led.
Hello and thanks for all the concise, practical info. Do you think BM Deep Silver lower cabinets would go well with a kitchen painted mostly in Swiss Coffee with dark (no green) soapstone countertops? The north wall will include full length cabinets painted in either Down Pipe (F & B) or Mysterious (BM). Probably you don't want to get this specific in the advice giving department so maybe instead I should simply request that Deep Silver be featured in an up-coming show. Thanks for considering the request!
Hi, I love watching your videos mostly because I'm renovating my house and I have so many decisions to make and color is a major one. I'm looking for a cool and relaxing mood yet dramatic. My style is contemporary and glam. I was wondering if you can talk about Graphic charcoal from Behr ( N500-6). I'm thinking about using it in my living room as an accent wall.
This is great, I ordered some Samplize stickers and this was one of them. My walls are some kind of maizey beige and I like much less yellow colours! Ca't do the trim as the cabinets and window frames, lattices, etc are all standard white but I love the contrast! Time to freshe the trim anyway. ANd I have a Pallafian Blue fireplace surround. I think it can work even with the creamy beige carpet. Now, this is about the 11tieth colour I've contemplated so..... just thinkin'!!! But I love this option- closer to a winner, I think!
Need help for kitchen cabinets color. Painting walls: swiss coffee, trim: chantilly lace. I also want white cabinets. What color should I use for kitchen cabinets? Thanks!
There's a Behr and Valspar color called Swiss Coffee and they all look similar, despite being slightly different. I can imagine the feeling of having a cup of swiss coffee in the Swiss Alps.
I have a east facing den that gets morning sun and that’s it due to covered parking right outside the only window. The floors are a sort of brownish tile with gray swirls that I was going to treat like wood since it’s brown lol. Everyone posts north and south facing ideas. My den is dark and the floors are warm. I like blues , grays, yellows and reds. Paint suggestions? Really liking Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace (of course) but I also like Atrium and Swiss Coffee. I’m so confused...
Can u suggest darkening this by 25% ? I am thinking of using this in my front hall that connects to my stairwell wall which I want to paint edge comb gray My front hall I believe is currently Navajo white which I love but was looking to paint it something different to go with the edge comb. These colors look beautiful together from my samplize samples, But I feel that Swiss coffee is just a bit whiter then what I am used to so was wondering if it is advisable to have it made darker? TIA
@@thepaintpeople it's a very small bathroom , with west window. I think either of them could look great without simply white looking yellow. Both great options .
Hello, I’m thinking of painting my beach house with Swiss Coffee. I read your response in one of the comments that it pairs well with Chantilly Lace. Is there a better combo for a beach house you would suggest? I like warm and whites and I’m planning on doing the walls in the entire house. Trim and doors with what you suggest. Ty so much!!
Hi Wisdom, a warm white is a good choice if you don't get a lot of natural light. Swiss Coffee is not as light as other whites, and could read a little darker for you. I'd also compare it side by side to something like BM White Dove or SW Alabaster and see what feels better.
This video is so helpful, thank you!! We are building right now, our living room/kitchen will be open concept. Do you think Swiss coffee walls (including some shiplap also in Swiss coffee) will match with a kitchen that has white cabinets with gold/bronze fixtures and matte black lights/windows? The other color I had in mind was white dove.
Hi Alicia, both colors could potentially work, depending on what white the cabinets are and the impact you want. If your cabinets are cooler, they might pop more against the warmth of those colors. If they are a warmer white, those colors might help soften the contrast. :)
@@jenniferh5174 I try but found it to be a bit dark for my space. Decided to go with White Dove and absolutely love it. Walls, trims and ceiling. Very ethereal and clean yet not cold. I love Swiss coffee but for a crisp look I think it needs a lots of light exposure. I hope this helps!
Preparing to DIY paint my kitchen/living room - north facing with glossy brown cabinets and dark charcoal countertop. Will Swiss Coffee work? Would appreciate your recommendation on alternatives 😃👍🏻
Thank you so much for this information! I just painted my whole house Swiss Coffee at 75% strength after seeing this description. Any thoughts on using Cloud White as trim? I have an old house and not sure if the same color for trim would look good.
I’ve read other interior designers recommend matching this same color on the trim with a different sheen (Satin) or using Super White on the trim for even more contrast.
It's hard to say which will read less yellow. It all depends on what colors it's paired with. Both are creamy. If you want to pacify some of that yellow, go for warmer tones, versus crisp cool whites and grays which will bring out that yellow. I think earthy colors would look great.
@@thepaintpeople I just painted my cabinets swiss coffee. My walls are white chocolate, but now the walls look too yellow. My ceiling in decorators white. Can i paint my walls swiss coffee too. i have white quartz countertops and white subway tile backsplash
Im trying to pick a color for my walls and ceiling and was wondering if i should go with swiss coffee for both or should i have a whiter color for my ceiling.
Hi AR, there are definite pros and cons to painting your walls and ceiling the same color, but, if you were going to go for it, Swiss Coffee is a great choice that works for walls, trims, ceilings etc. One of the pros of having your ceiling the same color is you don't have to worry about competing undertones and it can make your space look bigger. :)
Such a great video!! Quick question, would you recommend pairing Swiss coffee with chantilly lace baseboards/crown moulding? I’m not sure if chantilly lace is too bright/cool? I’d really appreciate hearing your insights!
Wow, thank you so much for your quick reply! :) That’s really interesting to know. Would you ultimately prefer something warmer though? Like simply white?
Simply white would look a tad more subtle and might neutralize Swiss coffee a tad, while Chantilly we'll just stand out a bit more. The difference is very subtle though!
I picked this color for my Brooklyn studio and I’m regretting to see how yellow it looks and seems quite off and old compared to my grey kitchen. Granted there’s limited light and may need to change light bulbs before I plunge on a different color 🙁
Hey there Af, it's totally a personal choice, Edgecomb Gray is pretty neutral making it more versatile in terms of pairing. But, if you want to have a look, BM White Dove which is very similar to Swiss Coffee but a bit cooler if you want to avoid any yellow undertones. :)
Hi Marianna, it can be tricky pairing whites so I'd compare them side by side and see? Chantilly is very light and bright so it's really going to bring out the warmth in Swiss Coffee when side by side, which you might like?
Yes! Behr Snowfall White is the same formula. Of course they all vary slightly in terms of the base/colorants they use but that’s about as close as you can get!
Great video! I am learning so much!! What do you think of this for a new build? * Swiss coffee on all of the walls- ulti Matt finish * Swiss coffee on the trim, baseboards, doors -satin finish *Swiss coffee on the ceiling - ultra flat Then on the kitchen cabinets - creamy white in a satin finish Is that just way too much Swiss coffee? Should I change it up? If so, to what? Thanks in advance for your expert opinion/advice!! 😍
I like the idea! I'd just perhaps make an adjustment for the ceiling. When you tint the ceiling, light will reflect off of it, creating a colour cast. Maybe just a clean stark white for the ceiling?
@@anabanana00111 We didn’t use Swiss coffee anywhere. The walls are SW neutral ground, my cabinets are pure white(I do believe) and my island is stained a dark brown. We have white oak floors. We will have white quartz countertops. We are still in the construction phase. If I had to do over I would not use neutral ground -it’s growing on me though.
