Welcome to my honest review of the Swiss Tech Wurdig knife! In this video, I will discuss the various pros and cons of this knife, highlighting its standout features and potential areas for improvement.
Firstly, let me talk about some of the things I appreciate about the Swiss Tech Wurdig knife. The canvas micarta handles offer a comfortable and secure grip, ensuring precision and control while handling the knife. Additionally, the liner lock mechanism ensures that the blade remains securely in place during use, providing an added layer of safety.
One of the standout features of this knife is the smoothness with which the blade opens, thanks to the ball bearing assist system. This not only enhances the ease of use but also adds a touch of elegance to the overall design.
However, there are a few aspects of the Swiss Tech Wurdig knife that I find less impressive. One such drawback is the absence of a thumb grip on top of the blade, which could affect the knife's functionality in certain situations.
Another issue worth mentioning is that the pocket clip's placement on the handle tends to dig into your hand when using the knife extensively. This can potentially cause discomfort or even affect the grip during more demanding tasks.
Furthermore, the length of the lanyard becomes a hindrance when using the knife with the pocket clip attached in your pocket. It frequently gets caught on objects in outdoor environments, such as bushes, roots, or twigs, which can be quite frustrating.
In conclusion, the Swiss Tech Wurdig knife has both its strengths and weaknesses. The canvas micarta handles, liner lock, and smooth blade opening make it a solid choice for those seeking a reliable and stylish knife. However, the lack of a thumb grip, discomfort caused by the pocket clip, and inconvenient lanyard length should be taken into consideration.

I think your expectations are unrealistic. It's not a bushcraft knife. I've had one of these for several months and love it. It's a pocket knife and, as such, is fantastic. Having said that, I still enjoy your videos.

I also prefer American-made knives (especially older Bucks), but did you realize that each and every "fault" you found with this knife is not the fault of the Chinese manufacturers but of the American designers? If there is no gimping - whose fault is that? Don't blame the Chinese for faults that are none of their doing. Hold the American designers to the fire. Check out the Chinese-made Sencut Sasche ($45) or the QSP Penguin - $32 and with D2 steel and all the gimping, etc you could ask for. Those are outstanding knives for the prices. I do not care at all for the politics behind Chinese manufacturing, and that alone is reason to avoid their stuff, but blaming American-created design flaws on the Asian manufacturers is simply wrong. Bark up the right tree next time. One more thing... never cut kindling with folding knife. I was disappointed to see you do that.

I tend to agree with this comment - I said so in my comment. It is alarming how many large companies in the US have a workforce working in the cubicles for them that just have zero life experiences, especially about the products they make/sell. There is very, very little design/ingenuity/etc coming from the young people in the US today and from the larger companies.

I have had one exactly like yours and carried it for over a year now and its been a solid knife. I have cut all kinds of things with it and its still good and sharp. I swapped the pocket hook to the other side and its not in the way at all for me anyway. The finish on the blade has been very durable as well. I own lots of higher end knives and prefer carrying this one.

@@theknifedoctordo you seriously think a thing being od green means it is to be used exclusively for bushcraft? that’s some actual toddler logic. You can get 99% of typical edc knives in od green or similar. This will blow your lil noodle wide open but the color of a knife doesn’t dictate its purpose or function. Why does this even needs explained to an adult? As far as the reflective lanyard, that can be as simple as just helping to find it in literally any dark environment, more than likely it’s simply there to look cool lmao. Tf does a fraction of a cent worth of reflective paracord have to do with bushcraft. You’re an actual box of rocks.

It’d be fixed blades on my belt and maybe a bigger folder than this as a back up. But for in town and for other small edc task the whurdig is a great little knife. Regarding the clip, I would say that 90% of pocket knives that have a clip will cause discomfort if the knife is used for the function mentioned in the video, but this is easy to solve, just remove the clip. When it comes to not having a finger grip, there are very few pocket knives in my collection that have this, which is a shame.

I have been using this knife and it’s fixed blade brother for some 6 months now. I pretty much disagree with your assessment except that the lanyard is too long, a simple fix, just cut it shorter. I do not see this as a Bushcraft knife, but as a utility knife. I have used mine for cutting tasks from making toggles and tent stakes, to dressing fish and game, to camp cooking. It has done a fine job for me overall. The pocket clip, well, I don’t care for them on any knife. I generally remove them. I do not carry any knife clipped to my pocket. I have not removed the clip from mine yet, just have not seen the need to, but it will probably be removed and tossed into the box with the others I have removed. I carry my SwissTech folder in my possibles pouch. Made in China? Yep, almost kept me from buying it, but I caved to the price. I only have a few made in the USA knives, Ontario and TOPS, although my RAT folder is made in Taiwan, but my outdoors knives are basically made in Sweden and Finland. I would recommend the two SwissTech knives I have as good value for the dollar. I will go as far as to say that I like the fixed blade knife almost a good as my Garberg! BTW, first time I have seen your channel, watched a few of your other videos. Liked what I saw and subscribed.

Had one lost it , liked it a lot but it could of been better in simple ways . The steel was good opened closed fine but need more meat on the handle being a bear pawed Sicilian and a bit of a belly on the business end would of made it more efficient. It reminds me of the swiss army knife blade style and that joker cut me from the 80's to the 90's despite how sharp it was

Most Chinese made knives are made to a price point. I have a few, but tend to avoid them for the most part. I have a Steel Warrior folding hunter that I got for $17, and it is well made and works well. I must say that my favorite Chinese knife is a QSP Canary small pocket fixed blade. It is made to fit in the pocket, has a usable edge, and can be carried on a lanyard or in the pocket. I have found it useful for what I expect from a knife, and it was inexpensive.

As the old saying goes, “You get what you pay for.” If that knife had the jimping on the thumb stud to prevent your finger from slipping it would no longer be a $29 knife. Want a better clip…you’d have to pay more for that too. I have 2 Chinese made knives, one I bought the other was a free gift with purchase when I bought a pair of 5.11 boots years ago. Nobody can fault you for trying…the knife does have some good qualities, as you pointed out. That said it lacks the refinement, details and field testing that a comparable U.S.A. made knife would likely have.

Kevin, I just wanted to take the time out to say thank you from the bottom of my heart, by watching your videos you have given me the courage to tackle something that has been weighing on my heart. My dad passed away in November of 2005 and I've had his Old Timer 34ot since then, mainly kept it in a lock box with other important items. My dad had this knife for roughly 20 years and I've had it roughly 20 years. So tonight I decided to clean and oil it up. I was very emotional doing this. I thought that this knives snap that my dad loved hearing so much was gone, rusty, gummed up etc. By watching you I learned to clean this old jewel up and oil it, and surprise the snap is back in all 3 blades. I'm just overjoyed by the results. So once again Thank You and God Bless you.

I understand your dislikes. When you started off with the pocket clip bothering your palm, I knew it was not good. I have not held one of these but I will say the "flatness" / straighness / etc kinda turned me off initially and I thought the ergonomics were not going to be good. It's shame these giant companies today will release a product without really testing it. It seems "testing a product" is allowing urban folks to have something for free and report back, whether they are interested in a product or not. All of the giant companies are all located in high-rise buildings in downtown areas and most of their employees live in that environment. They don't have "real world experiences" for the products the company makes/sells.... Anyway, my question to you is do you think you were fair in the assessment of the knife? I ask because I hold the same opinion as you do about chinese made knives/products. I like US Made knives, I'm a Kershaw fan and about the only Chinese made knife they have that I like are the Cryo and Cryo II. Not sure they even make them anymore, they were some of the first chinese made knives they brought out. I like the Leek, Blur, etc. I know that I would probably have predisposed feelings about a chinese knife and not sure I could develop a fair assessment....not saying you didn't. Good video once again.

Honestly, this knife doesn't really say "bushcraft" to me at all. There DO exist knives for that purpose, like those from Brisa, or even the one from Cold Steel they did that had a scandi grind type of thing going. This seems to me to be a small, slim knife that's really only meant for small EDC type tasks. Opening an Amazon box, cutting some tape, or maybe even opening some food packaging. It doesn't seem very robust, so I don't honestly think it looks like it's suited for outdoors use. That small slim handle doesn't appear to be very hand-filling, plus those other ergonomic issues you called out, makes it clear that this wasn't designed for hard use either.

The problem is your hands are too big for the knife, that's something to take into consideration. For smaller hands the knife is perfect.

Yes sir. If you play with pocket knives as much as I do you’re bound to get cut.

I honestly don’t understand the hype around these knives. No offense intended. They’re just basic folders. I’ve got no problem buying Chinese knives per se. I support American made as much as possible. But there are far better Chinese knives at this price point in my opinion. Great stuff as always brother👊🏻

Out of curiosity what other Chinese made knives at this price point are better? I am thoroughly intrigued to know, the Wurdig is my only knife ATM, but would aim for better.

I understand not to like the comfort of a knife but there’s plenty of options to make it more comfortable. However, I don’t understand the stigma around Made in China knives. Take the CJRB Pyrite, or anything made my CJRB or Civivi. They’re great knives for a great price. Also for $30 you’re getting micarta, ball bearings, and an AUS-8 blade. That’s a steal. Regardless of comfort for $30 you got a great knife. Many Kershaw’s are “Designed in USA Made in China” and are still hit or miss because Kershaw in general can be hit or miss. If the knife was “Made in America” would you have a differing opinion?

Thank you for sharing this. Not at all. This is not a comfortable knife when using. Again, this is my opinion. Thanks for watching!!

Dude this isn’t a knife meant for batoning or cutting kindling. It’s a 2 and and half inch pocket knife. You’re picking out the dumbest reasons to hate on this knife. Where else are gonna get a knife with a micarta handle knife with aus8 steel for $25???
@theknifedoctor
@theknifedoctor 3 месяца назад
It’s meant to be used outside. I wasn’t batoning with it. I was whittling, using it like any other pocket knife. It’s a CHEAP CHINA MADE KNIFE. The box is worth more than the knife Very uncomfortable when using. You stick with Swiss-Tech. I’ll stick with USA and EUROPEAN Knives.🤫🤫🤫😊
