I live watching this. “The rotor has to be pointing to number one”, “what’s the rotor” 😂. More people need to be like you and find out first hand what involved in even something as simple (sorry) as an intake swap. I know it’s your first time, but it’s always nice to do cam and lifters as long as you’re removing the intake. Then headers would actually be useful. But good job and thanks for the entertainment!

The only thing i agree with is the manifolds not leaking and bolts coming loose, other than that it's been proven time and time again headers even on a stock application like that will net better power all the way around even with mufflers. Just check out richard holdeners videos or the engine masters series. It's relative to the engine though, a stock 8:4:1 400 that's stock with a 4bbl isn't going to net as much power from headers vs manifolds.

your dad was spot on with the headers. too late now, but i use cardboard boxes turned upside down and put my removed bolts in holes marked for each item removed

If I was you. I wouldn’t ave gone right up on that clicker right away, while installing that there intake manifold my man.

the power aspect of headers in a "street" engine vs. a "race" engine is subjective to someone's opinion. depending on the cam, the headers may not gain much for top end power, but one of the biggest advantages of headers (more so long tube headers) is the gain of low and midrange power due to scavenging. An engine with a stock cam probably won't gain much with headers. like I said, when a person says there isn't much of a gain, it's a subjective opinion. whay is "not much"? 10 horse, 20 horse, 30? is a 10 horse power gain on the whole curve "not much"? or, is that a pretty good gain? that still subjective. maintenance wise, they are a pain in the ass though.

Headers do suck. Every set I have had has ended up cracked. Factory manifolds are supreme. You can get them ported also

I did this swap with a avs2, offenhauser 360 split port manifold (very rare piece) and have 2.5 inch exhaust tied onto the old pipes making it true dual into 24 inch glass packs turned out in fron of the rear tires on a 72 ltd brougham. I agree with pop, headers aren't worth the time or effort, I'm moving more air than a leaf blower out the pipes.

I had that Offy 360 on a 302 in a 72 bronco with a Holley carb and a crane fireball cam and headers. I did install in 1973. The cam was installed last and made a considerable difference, much more than any of the previous mods.

@johnboyle1146 I still have my ltd. Though I've had the motor out for 2 years for rebuild. It's honed and ready, have all the parts. We had 2 kids the past 2 years, threw me a little off track lol. Hoping to have it going again next year to haul the family to local cruise night.

@@coreysharp9794 I built a 65 mustang fastback 2+2 after I sold the bronco, I did a full build on that car with a 302w and 351w heads on it. I could twist that thing to 8000 rpm.

I hope you blocked the egr ports on the cylinder before you put the manifold on cause it looks like the intake manifold doesn't cover them up and will blow hot exhaust gas straight at the carburetor

It's clevland they don't have water cross over ports in the to the manifold they cross over through cylinder block

I disagree about not using headers. My opinion. A stock cam stock compression engine will see little benefit. A built 351m like mine with 10.5:1 compression flat top pistons and a complete roller valvetrain with a healthy cam needs headers due to LSA. The headers I bought are ceramic coated and will keep under hood Temps down. Again, my opinion
