Here is some context for all watching. The goal here was to swap 43 with 76 on the older consist. 76 was situated in front of 14 in the roundhouse, which is a completely different track than 43 is. The diesel could've handled all of this switching, but it is trapped in the far spur in the yard by the old consist. 43 dropped her cars, pulled 14 out, then went into hibernation. 14 did not have enough steam built up to operate yet, so she was just kinda pushed around by the other two. Alas, everything is where it should be, and 76 backs out again to start ops a few hours later.
It would be really cool if you guys were able to switch the light at the back of the train with one of the marker lights that are at the depot. But, I'm sure the safety regulation people would say a firm "No."
I am so glad to see a sort of behind the scenes at the FSDL. Also in the first clip of #43 backing out of the round house you have the engineer driving the train and the engineer at the back were the conductor sits. In the first clip who was the engineer siting were the conductor sits?
To be honest at this time the fsdl crew has other projects to get done before work on 13 can begin. The fsdl doesn’t need 5 operational engines, and doesn’t exactly have room to properly store all 5 engines. There’s a lot to consider before a complete overhaul can happen.
I don’t know, unfortunately 14 has had the same whistle (Hancock 3 chime) for 3 seasons now. However the 3 chime whistles are more accurate to the 1880s period that SDC is themed after.
