We're going flathead racing again at Pinetree Jamboree and the event is 2 weeks away. Jolene's top speed last summer was 57 mph and her goal this summer is to hit 60 mph so Nathan is here to make some mechanical tweaks to get things running where they should be - let's do it!
Pinetree Jamboree is September 15-17 and is held at the Winterport Dragway in Maine! 🏁

On your new shed it would be good if you had a large shutter door at the back as well, so if you needed to move stuff out it would be easier and you will also get a better air though the building when both doors are open and if you ever want to extend the building at the back it would be easier to link them. You are all a great team, love watching.

Hi guys Get some trickle chargers for your batteries Chad you can keep them on charge forever and they cut down the power and keep your batteries charged and ready to go , best thing I ever invested in for my motorcycle and they come with two leads one to stay on the battery and the other is for use off the vehicle… trust me you’ll be happy with them

Chad. To lock rear the right way just pull out top and bottom spiders. Weld across between two gears the 180 and do the same directly oppsite. The do same to bottom spider. Then carefully slip each back in place. Now the grears wont roll over each other thus locking axles together. If you just weld together in place they could and will break loose. My way they will never fail cause they wont roll over each other. Love you guys. Watch every day.

the firewall with the holes would be like a blast furnace if you had a fuel or oil fire at speed.......dangerous...

Flathead racing: Mill the heads for higher compression ratio, mill for valve clearance. Or just delete the head gasket with high temp permatex, Alum intake manifold for 3 dueces, Polish the ports and exhaust pipe interiors. upgrade plugs and coil for hotter reliable spark. 2 plugs per cylinder option. Make sure the clutch springs are stiff enough to not slip too much. Check the water pumps for no friction, no stiffness. Don't overfill the engine oil, the extra splashing eats HP. Spend the time to get the carbs dead on fuel air ratio. Exhaust pipe megaphones pull it out. Extreme case: add a 1949 diesel truck turbo.

Anti freeze raises the boiling point,so it cools better with it,but most dragstrips don't like it used because it gets slick if you get a spill.

Water has the ability to absorb heat better than antifreeze. (Higher Specific heat.) So the answer is it will run cooler with just water. Hope to see you at the Pine Tree Jamboree!

Anti freeze has a higher boiling point to help prevent turning your water into steam. I would use Evans waterless coolant in it. Especially if you are letting your cars sit for long periods of time.

Don't be afraid to spend a little money on it new starter and generator and battery at least. I probably would get a better distributor also you don't want to drive all that way and fuss with stuff you can replace at home for a few hundred dollars!!! While you have Nate there to set it up easier now than at the track 😊. My opinion and if it were me and Nate agreed I would put that flat head V 8 in it more common power plant and easier to get parts to repair. The plus side is your audience would probably double watching it for sure. Good luck either way!!!😊

Chad, Jolene, and Nathan, the car will not run different temperatures on water or coolant, the difference is water boils at 212f degrees and coolant has a much higher boiling point. Before using coolant make sure it is alright to use it at Pine Tree. Some drag strips do not allow coolant because if it leaks out on the track it is slippery. If you can use it do so with it running hot you want the higher boiling point of coolant. I hope the oil mixed with water is just due to condensation & not a blown head gasket due to running to hot. Jolene have fun racing & excellent video as always!

At the start of the pandemic I bought 2 brand new batteries for 2 vehicles, and thinking that they may not get much use for a while, put a $10 cut-off switch on each - one of the better investments I've ever made. Twist them on when I want to drive, back off when I get home. Both were Walmart's smallest, cheapest car batteries ($50 each...!) and each is working as new today.

Hi Chad and Joleen, great combo of hauler and car, I just thought a suggestion for loading and off loading might be to run some round stock along each side of bed front to back to help line wheels up, like they do at auto car wash. Once aligned at front on loading it will keep all wheels straight..love the show, you inspire. Andy Tipperary Ireland..

Hi Chad, what a great combination, really nice. if I may suggest, I know you are trying to keep it "original", but the safest option for that differential is replace it with a good used chevy 12 bolt posi, or replace the Cherokee carrier with a posi. The NHRA realized the danger of welded differentials many years ago, and banned them. Honestly, it is an iffy, and potentially dangerous modification. Anyway have fun. Blue Mule

Definitely need a reorganization of how everything is in the shop. Since you don't ride motorcycles I'd get everyone off the floor and wilh the high ceiling you should be able to make something to hang or set them on. Also store the biggest hardest one to get out right by the big door. And that's all the unsolicited advice I'm typing in the comments 😂😂.

If the oil in the oil pan is milky, it sounds like the engine has a head gasket leaking or water is getting by some where, as a cracked block. If it has set around in freezing weather with water in it, this happens a lot. Antifreeze is made to keep this from happening.

Push and hold the silence button for 5 seconds to silence the alarm while contamination is being burned off the sensor. The fluid in the cooling system makes no difference to the operating temperature of the engine. Anti-freeze prevents the fluid from freezing in cold weather to prevent cracking of the block or cylinder head.
