Not just that, it's extremely portable compared to other consoles (except Nintendo). Can't say the same for Series X cuz it's too fat to fit in a normal backpack.
I feel like Microsoft could actually brand the Series S as a cheaper alternative to a gaming PC. Include an "ëxpanded mode" interface for monitors, native keyboard and mouse support on the UI, a better optimized version with Edge, and some better standards for KBM support across AAA games and it could be a decent package.
Fortnite seems easy because the lesser you play, or its your first time playing it, it fills your lobbies with AI bots or extremely bad players. If you want to get into lobbies with real good players, you shud play arena. Also the graphics settings are maxed out :)
Yeah i dont play much anymore because not only did they ruin the game with bullshit meta and weapons but now everybody is sweaty and third parties so hard i just cant have any casual games. I guess part of the reason is i dont like these fast paced competitive games because my job is stressful as hell
if they allowed external USB mics I'd be sold. Also that might be a stretch but having a cursor within the console menus would be nice too. Cool video!
i wish they allowed bluetooth support for wireless speakers and headsets. i think they really don't want people using their xbox's as cheap pc's then as gaming consoles.
A workaround to the limitation discussed @4:17 is to not switch on the controller when starting xbox. Navigate the menu and start the game using keyboard. You will not receive the popup discussed here.
When you start the console, not with the controler and dont start the controler at all. You don't have this problems with controler switch of or vibrations. Good Video! Thanks!
For the controller issue, first, connect your controller to the console itself through a cable. Any usb-C works or if you have a original xbox one controller use a micro usb. Then for the vibrations there is a setting in most games and I think the Xbox itself to turn them off. Hope this helps.
For people playing m&k on console, power the console on by the button on the console, and then you can use it without getting the controller disconnected message
@@nathangothan601 Ohh ok cool. I'm not really a fan of Series S or a low spec console like that. I wish it was just the Series X physical (& digital). I've thought about buying an Xbox again but they're over 3.5 years old now. I used to have an Xbox 360, that's my only xbox I've had. Been exclusively PlayStation since 2013.
@@AlwaysVotingMAGA I’m not normally either, but man for $250 on sale it’s an absolute steal of a console and I think it’s a rare Microsoft W to make a budget option. The series X is technically the better console spec wise, but yeah if you’re a big single player game guy Sony has the best options.
As someone with a high end PC, the Series S is a cool little gaming machine. I have a bunch of emulators and legacy Xbox games, and use it for gamepass. It's also my traveling companion when on business.
1. turn vibrations off on your controller 2. turn sleep timer off on controller 3. every person wins their first match , its only AI for a few games so your the only actual person in the game
Point 3 is true and moreover its just a smart marketing strategy if you think about it. A new player's more likely to continue playing the game if they win a lot during their initial experience. Compared to Warzone, that feeling of difficulty as a newbie, will discourage the player to play further because the skill gap is just too much. Atleast that's what I felt. And probably the average casual gamer who just wants to play to win a couple instead of try-harding every game.
I honestly think the Series S is the best bang for bucks at the time so I had the same idea as you, I really wanted this to be my main build but then I realized that so many games did not support mouse and keyboard and that alone made me gave up on it.
@@harizluqman9680 True I mostly play fps but even the non fps games I play like Dead by daylight feels way better with Mouse and keyboard and it isnt supported. If every Xbox series S games supported MnK then it would be an amazing gaming budget build
I do this too! My only issue is that I love playing Apex Legends, but the game doesn't support cross-progression or mouse and keyboard :/ Otherwise, the Xbox Series S works like a charm.
@@RPGkanon that's because these games aren't remastered in the first place. That's upto the developers isn't it? If you run latest games made for current gen, they run perfectly fine. Heck, I completed Elden Ring on mostly 60 FPS. I don't think Xbox One would support those frame rates.
Just wish there was a definitive list somewhere online that has all the console supported keyboard and mouse games. For example, Sniper Elite Zombie Army 4 has full m+kb support, but not a single list I've found online has this game listed. Maybe it's because none of the lists have been recently updated, but still lol, the "download it and find out" method is pretty lame for now.
120 fps and hz is fine. Especially on warzone it feels nice and smooth. More fps just makes it feel a bit better but you could definitely do a lot of damage on 120
You won your first match because you were playing against bots. Everyones first few matches are either all bots or mostly bots. After the game gets a few matches to register your skill level the skill ceiling goes up very fast. When I played a lot I found it harder to get wins in fortnite than it was in warzone when I played that daily.
Agreed. I had a decent older desktop that was struggling to run MSFS2020 flight sim. Once I heard Xbox series S has this title I jumped at the chance and hooked mouse and keyboard as well. Does it play ok, Yes. But what I'm finding is the lack of a slider in setting to adjust settings from basic, middle to Ultra settings. They also removed options to download areas on map to get ultra settings. Even with a fast internet I'm getting low to middle graphics on scenery being rendered. No where close to high or ultra settings are possible. I'd like the option of putting game ti ultra even if only got 20fps. Bit that isn't available. I know expansive really high end desktops even struggle with ultra settings on this flight som so I guess I can live with lower end graphics in xbox. Many other games titles do play quite well on system. EA Sport titles, Forza Horizon, Halo all play really good.
Love the video but as fortnite player I hate when people say the game is too easy because it is anything but that. The first games a player plays are filled with easy AI it’s almost impossible not to come out on top💀
Quick tip I ply fn on Xbox kbm a lot and if u don’t turn in ur controller and switch it on form the power button u won’t get the problem with the contrôler switching off love this vid keep it up Travis 😊
If you need a fix for the “you need a controller to play this game” pop up, then just turn off the game you have the pop up on and disconnect the controller and click enter on the keyboard to re-enter the game while still having it selected and you don’t have to have your controller connected to play (which saves battery) but if the game your playing doesn’t have a cursor on menus then feel free to keep the controller on to switch inputs on menus for convenience.
Been using PlayStation my whole life, I just got a Series S few days ago and I'm impressed. So much power for such a small console and not so expensive price.
@@omarelfarouk818 For its size and price, you won't regret it. I haven't touched my PS4 Pro since I got the Series S. You can also bring it easily with you during vacations. I just feel like the controller is smaller so I got myself an 8bitdo Ultimate Controller for Xbox, also planning to buy Turtle Beach Recon controller. I'm addicted to it!.
You can set mouse/keyboard to primary and keep the controller off. You can also turn off the vibration on the Xbox Controller..... This is old news.....
I had an Xbox seria S and I don’t recommend playing cyberpunk 2077 because I’m assuming the game is too huge and I do have the Seagate expansion hard drive and either way the game is VERY DELAYED it’s not in sync with the controls which idk if I did something wrong or it’s just too much for the series s
Man, I am happy enough playing with my controller in everything other than RTS (I don't play fps) but the fact that a mouse and keyboard works on series s means that I can straight up work on my xbox series s.
The only negative thing is that the Series S (and X) has inherent mouse acceleration ("enhanced pointer precision") from Windows, that can NOT be turned off.
@@H8Magnet yh but u get used to it cause i used to play like 3 different games on ps4 with kb and I got used to it pretty quickly until i got a pc which was just a much better experience
4:19 as a kbm player on Xbox, this is very annoying. I know 2 ways to fix this. 1. Plug your controller into your Xbox 2. Use a headset and play spotify, Apple Music might work. (If you don’t like the idea of listening to music while gaming, you can simply turn the music volume down.)
Its pretty cheap and readily available in India compared to other good gaming machines tbf ..got it for 27,999 a few months back…30k is also a good deal…make sure to get the Gamepass as well (588 a month) Happy Gaming Ps . Oh i thought youre Indian by your name lol…the denominations are in INR anyway😅
Question. I have a PS4 slim, but with these newer games coming out I'm not really too satisfied after having it for over a year, especially with the graphics not being very good. But would an Xbox series s be a good investment?
Tbh i would wait until theres more to play and invest ur money else where for the time being. There’s already not a lot of exclusives for xbox and they all got pushed back just like playstations exclusives. so i would wait a year or so to see what happens with their games rather than just buying a console like i did with the ps5 then only using it for 2 games and going back to pc.
The thing about fortnite is when you start out, there are more and more bots in your lobby making it easier for newer players to get used to it instead of being destroyed immediately. If you want more of a challenge creative, arena/ranked are great things to try.
All you have to do is close the game then turn the Xbox remote off then use the keyboard to open the game and you won’t have that pop up problem. Your welcome 👍🏼
90% of what I play is call of duty Cold War and maybe 5% Minecraft bedrock. When my old pc broke I just bought abused Xbox for $200ish and used a keyboard and mouse. Haven’t been happier
5:28 your point about the game being too easy is invalid here. The first few matches of your Fortnite career are with bots instead of players. The matchmaking in Fortnite is odd and will add bots depending on how often you play. Great video though.
Series S is so behind, that if you run fallout 4 games and travel near downtown boston the whole game will freeze, not crash but freeze/unplayable, where on series x that issue never happened.
The thing is you can for example save up $100 more and buy yourself a entry level pc like i did , you can do alot more stuff on pc than xbox so don't make the mistake guys
0:30 "mouse and keyboard". Gestures to keyboard and mouse. In all seriousness, I have to give respect to fortnite and Warzone for showing proper keyboard prompts and having a cursor on a console.
5:48 the main reason you won your first game is that the first couple of lobbies on a new fortnite account always are filled with bots, so you could think of it as placement.
The problem is, PC has VASTLY more variety in games that are simply not available on consoles which include strategy, city builders and MMO's etc on top of the usual multiplatform FPS and AAA games. I also own a XBSX, great console but it just doesn't match what is available on PC, I could certainly make do with just the XBSX but I wouldn't be able to play half the games I enjoy.
@@mrglass7133 There are a "few" RTS and city builders et on console, but like always the controller makes most of these games bollocks. PC simply gets far more variety, it always has, this is not exactly some kind of secret :P

My main problem with the Xbox Series S (or by that means with any console) is, that you have to pay for online gaming. Which I don‘t have to do on a PC (at least in most cases). That‘s why it probably won‘t replace my Pc anytime soon.
If you want to avoid keeping your controller on while gaming on the keyboard, open the games using your keyboard and keep the controller off while entering the game
Does anyone else have the problem that the mouse buttons are reversed? No matter how I set it in the XBOX settings. It always remains swapped. In Minecraft, I now have the problem that I can hit and build on both buttons at the same time. Strange.
I used a keyboard and mouse on my Xbox for a while. It’s annoying when some games. Like vanguard. And halo. Basically always want your controller to be on. Even if you don’t use it.
I bought a series s with a mouse and keyboard. It was quite amazing cause I came from a ps4. I played a lot of space engineers on the series s but I hated the fat mouse it has
Does the computer CPU have to contain a strong graphics card for this to work? Or will it work even if your GPU sucks and cannot handle modern gaming graphics?
... so, no Windows or Linux installation? No actual user-end control over the administration of the machine? No community patches and mods? No ability to run unsigned code? No ability to write your own unsigned code? Bro, you can't just hook a mouse and keyboard up to a console and call it a PC. It's not even close to being the same thing. A Playstation Vita running Custom Firmware is more of a PC than a Series S. The Playstation 2 and 3 could always have Mouse and Keyboard hooked up to them, with limited support in some games, but they couldn't be considered PCs until Sony released the Linux OS distributions for them (and then took them away, resulting in a hilarious lawsuit)
