Buying a 2020 SuperDual X this week. Your videos along with your experience with the bike are extremely helpful. Your comments are like gold. I will be curious to hear from all the 2020 model owners to see if they have any new issues. Or if any of the older issues still show up on any of the newer bikes.

Gday, ive got a 2018 superdual and heard about the subframe bolts breaking and thought they had fixed the problems by 2018 but no mine broke inside of the threaded tube on frame LHS and was impossible to get out. the biggest problem is that they only used 8.8 tensile bolts and there is way too much length in the bolt thats not in the threaded tube,so all the stress is swinging on about 60 mm of the bolt, they should have bolted the rear peg bracket to the subframe down tube and then that would have shortened the length of the bolt and even if they made it a 10mm bolt not 8 it probably wouldnt break. considering that theres a huge amount of weight on theses bolts its a no brainer,but these things seem to not get addressed between newer models, still havent worked out how to get broken bolt out seems that maybe the factory used loctitie doh, so if yours hasnt broke id suggest getting 12 scale tensile and make sure the unthreaded shank part of bolt go right to the end of the support brackets so that maximum strength is where its needed,cheers.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with the Superdual. I own a 2018 Euro 4 version. Could you please share the type of handlebar clamp kit for your barkbuster hand guards? Cheers from Germany!

Thanks for the video. Have you had any issues with the side stand safety switch and how does someone bypass it?

Thx for the video. I'm looking at a new 2020 SD650 X and was curious as to some of the possible longer term issues with the bike.

Hay mate mine has 20,000kms on it now and has been pretty reliable ( considering I have ridden it like a enduro bike for most of its life ) all main issues that they had have been sorted now eg 1. Mesh oil filter has been updated with stronger one 2. Rear subframe bolts updated to stronger ones 3. Fuelling sorted on Euro 4 models with better mapping. 4.Buy the comfort seat ( standard is crap ) Only long term issue to note is the bolts on the airbox ( DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN ) .otherwise they will strip out . It’s been an issue since the Husky TE 630 days - same airbox. Hopefully they will do something in future to fix it. I have only stripped out 2 bolts since 2017 and change my air filter after every second ride .

Yeah, I figured you'd have more to add after an additional 10 months. Thanks for the list

@@rajanrairealty8979 “ how long is a piece of string 🤔, we’re you ride is it very dusty , will you be riding in groups we’re your getting a lot of dust from behind. Very dusty every second MAJOR ride , not that dusty around every 2000km ( this is mainly off road riding ) on road mainly say every 4-5000km , over filter end snorkel put a pri-filter ( for the off road areas only )

Is the head stem bearing a tapred roller style? I was shocked to find that my Tiger 800 still had ball bearings in the head stem!

Yes 👍 mate it’s a taped roller type . I used to have a Tiger 955I and 800 so know what you mean .

@@itsallabouttheridekeepingi4449 I was pretty happy with the quality of the Triumph, but they only suggest light off road use for it. Using ball bearings would be fine for road use. Some other Euro ADV bikes have design flaws that make them not fit for purpose, well not in OZ at least with our conditions. Maybe the Starbucks crowd in their matching BMW suits excepted!

Have you ever had any problems riding in the rain? After a few hour riding in sopping rain my SWM starting bogging down and cut off a couple of times. When I finally made it to the hotel, I checked the air filter and there was accumulation of water and air filter oil at the bottom of the air filter case. Looks like the drain hole may have clogged up? Not sure if that was the issue or not. The next day was sunny and clear and the bike ran fine. Have you experienced this issue?

Have you ever been able to compare the Superdual to a RS650?
@itsallabouttheridekeepingi4449
@itsallabouttheridekeepingi4449 3 года назад
Yes , the RS is more enduro focused and the Superdual more ADV focused. All depends on what you what to do , mine in a lot of cases has been ridden like an enduro bike ( just a bit heavy for real snotty trails and single track

I replaced a BMW 650 dirt bike, which was too heavy, replaced with the 2017 SWM; there's more power probably, but being lighter the edge might be that, certainly much better for the job in the bush. The SWM is excellent for lifting over impossible obstacles, the BMW was simply too heavy.

Changing oil every 2500km? :-o
@dufusfinder9771
@dufusfinder9771 3 года назад
It’s only two liters! Pretty simple to do. Have you ever owned a dirt bike? They are more labor/maintenance intensive!
