Just a quick illustration that SWR, while important to not blowing up your radio, is not the best predictor of antenna performance. We compare 2 80m antennas, a home-brew End Fed Half Wave and a DX80 Off Center Fed dipole both coming through the same antenna tuner (MFJ939B) to the same radio (Yaesu FT450). The tuner can get them both to 1:1 at 10watts, so they should act about the same, right? Let's look at FT8 received signal performance on the radio's signal strength meter and see what's happening...
