if he's right, then he's not out of line, is he now? Sorry I'm being a smartass. I'm actually learning how to tank this game properly, after 10 years of hardcore dps.
For me it's the only tank that made sense lol. I felt juggernaught immortal was too reliant on 1 cooldown, and like both the other tank classes aside from sin just relies heavily and 2 or 3 major cooldowns, while Sin has dark ward up like all the time, you are more of a tank for most of the fight, than the other tanks. That said I think Immortal's cooldown is really powerful when used. Also you can STEALTH and use stealth to heal up... that's nuts in PvP! Literally in no other game can you be a tank and also stealth... AND heal yourself.
I like the "Blame the healer" xD But yeah I agree that the tank needs to know every bossfight. You're essentially the pivot of the whole fight so you dictate how the fight plays out, if you dont know the mechanics its a wipe. If you know the mechanics you make the job much easier for the DPS and healers. I mostly play Jugg tank but I might give Sin a go after this video. Btw, are you gonna do a Immortal guide also?
Thanks for the amazing guide. It's been a long time since I tanked in an MMO and I kinda miss it. Way less intimidated by it now, though! Have a great day!
Hey Biggs, PvP related question here. Really struggling with my Darkness Sin. Typically, pumping all stats into defenses is considered bad for PvP, correct me if I'm wrong. But once I start pumping into crit or power, I feel like I become a wet tissue. Is Darkness viable much for PvP? Additionally, do you run your Darkness' specs/stats similar to how you do it in this vid?
That's the saber itself, it's an old ranked pvp season reward. A tuning showing a burning effect is the immolator (?) tuning aka the most expensive one
You can have the incinerator tuning for a burning weapon but it looks different. Some sabers have innate effects (Tythonian master, Overcharged, etc.) and this one is an old PvP reward. Maybe you can still get it somehow, that I do not know because I don't do PvP.
As a healer main I take offense to that lmao but damn it so true cause even if tank messes up most healers if halfway competent can make up the diffrence of the error and keep u alive we have o shit buttons for a reason
Personally I would rather take Reckless Defense over Overcharge Saber, it's a (up to) 15% raid wide (I think) reduction with the use of Recklessness, also goes well with the Dynamic Force
@3:36 Dark Forces is greater than Overcharged Saber. Overcharged Saber's main usefulness is its 15% heal... on a 2 minute cooldown. Meanwhile, Depradating Bolts hits 5 times in 2.87 sec; Dark Forces gives 2% per hit during a 6 second mind control. Single Target Mind Control is on a 15 sec cd; Mass Mind Control is on a 45 sec cd. One Mind Control + Depredating Bolts is 10% hp at a 15 sec cd; that combo is much better than 15% hp on a 120 sec cd.
So row 43 will depend a little bit on what content you're doing, the change made to Dark Forces is nice for the passive healing, especially in solo content, but with Overcharged Saber we're more interested in the 25% DR and Dark Charge buffs than the 15% baseline healing. I'd say if you're leveling dark forces is great, if you're doing flashpoints/pvp, overcharged sabers' on-demand defensive boost is extremely strong.
I run with "may cause injury" for solo and fp content. It's good cleave and AOE threat and unlike all of the other tacticals, it's useful every few seconds. For solo fights its "life warden" or the one where you do more damage when you do damage. Sin tank tacticals are shit, they're either about dps or saving others from mistakes and those "rescues" are pure RNG. The person getting the aid is 1:7 , 1:11 or 1:15 out of the raid group. It can purge debuffs on people who have minor debuffs that didn't need cleansing and the one you wanted removed is still there. Were it not for Sin tanks, life warden would be auto delete. IMO in pvp if it isnt two cloaks, it's a throw. "Severing Slash" is a 5% DR PER TARGET HIT. Up to 15%, for 6 seconds. It's a 15sec cd? So its either an average of 2.5% continuous DR in a solo boss fight or an avg 7.5% DR during a group fight of 3 or more. It's many thousands of hp that are calculated before the roll for shield. If a static 3% DR choice on the tree or on an implant is a "good pick", then Severing Slash is outstanding and thus is a rotation staple, on CD. Losing one DPS due to standing in BS is often a raid wipe due to enrage timers, I have enough to do. Get gud. They drop, we're probably going to reset. Please people, don't stealth with the boss to cheese a mechanic unless ( you're running flashpoints ) or your next immediate click is a taunt to exit stealth and regain control. That rotation shown online on some sites is STUPID. The timing has to be PERFECT as in you KNOW the rotation of the boss and this moment right now is safe to cheese (or the off tank has the boss). In one global most raid bosses will pivot and one shot the next person on the chart because we're all rarely full hp and if its a ranged, he's going for a walk through the raid group and may cleave.
Stacking defensive stats is mediocre I PvP, but you won’t fee as strong as you do in PvE and you will notice the wet noodle damage. It’s simply more fun, in my opinion, to give up some survivability in exchange for actually feeling like you are contributing to the success of the match
@@Biggsgaming I did just as you said and it went so much better lol. I did take a smidge of defensive stats just to milk the low DR since I have almost no def stats.
I would say that it's a lot more survivable than hatred, especially in some of the overtuned world that we're living in right now. I would personally still play hatred just because I like DPS more, but it's absolutely viable, does solid cleave damage in solo content and will provide fast pops for PvE.
@@Biggsgaming thanks for the reply! I sometimes wish you'd do a video about which disciplines are more fun than others in your opinion when thinking about damage, animations and what discipline just feels more interesting to play with each class.
