Looks like not so much new followers if Mark knows about this interwiew, how shy he here, so different from what he is now. Incredible man, helps countless of young artists around the world. Such inspiration
I've been a professional artist for 25 years after taking eight years to earn a BFA. It took me most of that time to finally pay off my student loans, and I don't look back on my artwork in school with great fondness. In this way, I back up what Marc says about school 100%. For some it's great. But, hot damn, don't put yourself $100k into debt for an art career. Anyway. I've loved my career. I have that feeling of getting away with something every day when I'm sitting in front of my Cintiq and drawing in Photoshop. Even with all the experience, I'm always looking for improvement. I discovered Marc's videos during the pandemic, and my figure drawing skills skyrocketed. His construction methods clicked with me in profound ways. Now that I've been enjoying his content for a few years, I thought I'd look for interviews with him, which led me here! What a great time capsule. Now on to explore the Sycra channel... 😀
I play this video whenever i feel down and do not like my work, it kind of gets me going in the artsy side XD, plus it's good company when doing studies.
This is really cool. Sycra is where I watch most of my tutorials, usually watching a tutorial and then starting another painting and using what I learned from it type of thing. Then I go to Cubebrush where I'm usually in one of the competitions or just going to Marc Brunet to get some critique or advice, and Loish is one of my absolute favourite artists and biggest influences. I know I don't know him but there's a cool feeling watching this thinking, I talk to him every week ha. Three legends. If any of you haven't watched the loish interview I'd recommend that as well. Thanks again Sycra, if I ever get an interview like this I'll be sure to mention you :P
O M G... ok this might be more common then I tough it would be... raise the hand who also started drawing with dragonball o/ !!!!! (I was 9 I think, when I drew goku for first time!)
Hey, I just want to thank You for those helpful videos and all that effort You put in making them. I've been drawing for all my life and I am pretty good (but never good enough!) but I've learnt loads of new things with You, my frequent difficulties have become clear and easy. Thank You!
This dude is soo awesome! i want to be like him! He is soo right about the school-debt thing.. i went into the trap.. well in Hungary it wasnt super expensive but still.. i learned the hard way and quite fast that self educating from the internet etc, is much more prosperous.
Thank you for this video, this is really inspiring. I am from Montreal and have struggled but my art always comes natural. I havent gotten to any software yet but I am happy I found this video. Helps understand the process. :) God bless u
Can you make a interview with SteveRayBro next? Hes into animation, he isnt that far in his carreer but still might be interesting to hear something from a guy which hasnt had his breakthrough :>
if you look at the process of creating his 2D drawings, you will see, that he often starts with a 3D model and then takes that as a base to work on. but i think to the most art works from him, we have no acces, bcs its property of blizzard i guess.
Quality over quantity, agreed! I'm trying to finish my first piece for deviant art, I'd love if you could check it out once its finished! I know your busy and stuff, but I thought I'd ask anyways :p
Hey Sycra, i know there is a low chance of you seeing this but if anyone capable of giving advice plz do. Im 14 and love art, im about to start college in two years and teally want to do 3d animation but scared of not being able to support myself, im in a bery rough situation right now and would love feedback, thx! i love your videos u are a huge inspiration :)
Kristoffer Lindvall If you aren't planning to earn money by any programs, there are a lot of free. Blender is an okay Free 3D program, similar to Maya. Sculptris is also free, and it's a sculpting program, a similar to Mudbox or Zbrush, and it's also rather easy. I believe you can download "student versions" on Autodesks website.
Not all of them, but most of them started from drawing Dragon Balls to be professional artists today =))) woaaaa, if only I take art serious since i was a kid, i feel so left behind now :v
James Down It's an old board game type thing, and I used to play it as a kid. I'm guessing not a lot of people have even heard of it, but Sycra referenced it in the interview lol
