A video documenting the 140 Years of Sydney Congress Hall band. The Band was formed in December 1882 with the commencement of the Salvation Army in Sydney Australia know originally as Sydney Number 1 band.
Sydney Congress Hall Band has conducted several overseas tours including New Zealand, United Kingdom, USA, Canada with countless national tours.
Since the bands early day it has been at the forefront of innovation and outreach, adapting to the needs of the day musically and spiritually.
Today Sydney Congress Hall Band operates in 2 formats. Sydney Congress Hall Band, that participates and assists in Sunday services and Sydney Congress Hall Band & Friends. Sydney Congress Hall Band & Friends consists of Salvationists and supporters of the band that gather together every Wednesday night for rehearsals and fellowship. Sydney Congress Hall Band & Friends performs regular concerts and assists in Divisional gatherings when required.

Wow!! I have tears in my eyes looking at the photos and recalling so many people that were so kind to me in my youth at SCH! I remember with great clarity SCH band playing Eric Ball’s Kingdom Triumphant at a NSW Congress at the Sydney Opera House growing up and I was astounded! I had not heard this piece before and to this day, O Come Immanuel reflecting the birth of Christ then Lo, He Comes with Clouds Descending! This piece has been etched in my mind since I was a boy as it is truly remarkable to this day. Thank you for sharing these memories. I saw Alan Staines in many of them. What a great servant of God and Ron Prussing who has led the band with such wonderful experience and expertise. God bless you all! 🎶🙏❤️

Hi Norman, that is Kevin in some of the photos. Kevin played with Sydney Congress Hall Band while he was posted to Australia. Off my rough memory it was between 2003-2007 roughly .
