A metro train has completed the first continuous journey between Tallawong and Sydenham, ahead of Sydney Metro City & Southwest opening next year.
This journey was the result of six months of planning and is a major step forward in the rigorous testing and commissioning program that began in April 2023.
The 51.5-kilometre test run of the full alignment took four hours to complete. When metro services start through the city in 2024, the journey between Tallawong and Sydenham will take 59 minutes, and passengers will have a fast and reliable metro connection every four minutes in the peak.
