Sydney Trains Vlogs Sydney Metro Vlog 4 Tallawong to Chatswood This video features a trip up the front of one of Sydney Metros driverless Metropolis trains from Tallawong to Chatswood. #railway #railroad #trains Filmed on: 31/5/2019
Phil, thank you for all your wonderful vlogs, particularly during this non-travel period. You make wonderful vlogs, with steady camera, great sound with natural sounds, no music, and only minimal talking on the train routes. (although your Narrative vlogs are nice too).
NSW Train Vlogs Phil said to me that he was lucky that his holiday abroad in NY made him miss the opening day (though he likely planned that trip before the opening day was announced). He said that filming a vlog in the chaotic crowds at Chatswood would have been annoying.
@@nicholetheotter1957 That's what happened when I recorded them! The kids were literally screeching because the train stopped just short of Tallawong for about 10 minutes.
When I filmed something like this a couple of days ago, I had to keep leaning and changing my standing position because my feet were hurting so much. Didn’t help I had to put up with annoying kids that day too. And yeah, B23 finally entered service today.
Was that water in the tunnel reflecting in the lights? I take it that they have a good plumbing service set up. Definitely was water as you took off from one of the underground stations. You weren't putting them up so no idea which one.
Have the initial glitches been resolved since revenue services have started?. it will be interesting to what the commuter feedback is like for AI automated power train system.
I'd be suprised if it accellerates & brakes like Londons deep level tube trains. & soon London will have Crossrail up fully running, it's class 345 trains will run at 140 km/h (90 MPH) in places. Hopfully, soon I'll be out of Adelaide (a pretend city) & into Sydney & I'll check out this ride.
hi phil. so at tallawong you would have noticed there is platform 2 and 3 with no sign of 1. so apparently 1 will be for a future extension heading west. still sounds silly given this is years and years away but there you go.
NKP i hope they do. also, do u know why epping has no platform 4? I would have thought that they would have fixed that in time for the metro opening, but that never happened.
@@aussiesorcerer791 Epping has no platform 4 because the number is reserved for if the line in quadruplicated(made into 4 tracks)-if there was a platform 4 it would be on the fenced off side of platform 3
The fact that the Sydney Metro uses the EXACT same door opening and closing chimes as the MTR of Hong Kong...tells me that the MTR is involved in the operations somehow. I have heard that it is true...can you confirm, Phil?
John Leung The metro is operated by MTR. From Wikipedia: Metro Trains Sydney Pty Ltd (MTS) is the operator of the Metro North West Line, which runs along the Sydney Metro Northwest. It is a joint venture between MTR Corporation (60%), John Holland (20%) and UGL Rail (20%) formed in September 2014. It operates the network with a fleet of 22 Alstom Metropolis trains under a 15-year contract.[2][3]
Dean L Thanks for that. Seems like they’re doing okay so far...shame MTR can’t get their domestic operations in order (it’s been one disaster after another in HK)!
Jacob schinella If you travel in the Chatswood to Tallawong direction, you can easily see the old track. It branches to the right, while on the left is the new track that goes to Cherrybrook.
@@jacobschinella8642 it could be used as a diversionary route (Okay maybe not as they've no doubt ripped the old signalling system out, and I'm not sure if the connections between tracks have been severed at Chatswood) or to bring maintenance/rescue trains out. The Metro uses the same power supply (1.5kV DC overhead like the rest of Sydney and NSW) so you could take an electric locomotive down there to move a failed train if the line is connected where the tunnels join the line to Hornsby.
Ben Gray Phil has done the Bella Vista episode. Here’s the link to it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LkFowI67DH0.html He’ll upload videos for the other stations soon, probably one on a daily basis.
