Sydney Trains Vlogs Sydney Metro Vlog 15 Chatswood to Tallawong Front View on Alstom Metropolis Set 08 #sydneytrains #travel #trains #travelvlog Filmed on: 23/10/2023
@@sydneytrainsvlogs Someone with a bit of knowledge was trying to tell me that the Waratahs can accelerate almost as fast as the Metropolis but are never able to cut loose because of the Sydney Trains drivers, track, lack of ATO and timetables.
Excellent driving Phil. I was surprised to see a signal at Epping and I noticed the line also has a turn off to the right which was the original heavy rail exit from the tunnel. I really enjoyed this journey, thanks for sharing this with us.
At 28:45 was Metropolis set 22. It's the only set so far that has a teal line separating the black and white alongside the Metropolis set, it also has the NSW government and transport logos on cars 2201 & 2202 I came across that set Thursday evening at Castle Hill while I was coming home from training
I found a USB of an XPT and an XPL carridge in NSW TrainLink livery on one of my shelves, I got it from one of the train drivers which drive on the T4.
Preparing for a front view of the City extension? 😉 I know 40 minutes is already a pain, but for more than an hour all the way to Sydenham? Might need to consider some suction mounts for the windows or a mini phone tripod 😅
I've been on the North West Sydney Metro three times (twice to Castle Hill and once to Rouse Hill), so I know what some of the line looks like (but I am yet to go the full length of the line to Tallawong). I hope that next year (2024) the Mariyung D Sets will OFFICIALLY start proper service, and also the Sydney Metro Line that runs through Sydney Harbour will be opening. (Do you think you will be vlogging your first trips on the Sydney Metro when that opens next year and your first trip on a Mariyung D Set (the trains that will sadly lead to the end of the V Sets))? That said, a very good video, Phil!
@@sydneytrainsvlogs After the former tunnel connection to the mainline veers away at Epping not much further i see the wall veer away at 14:23 & I suspect these were either meant to be stub tunnels or a possible future infill station.
@@jack2453in comparison to similar lines in Perth yes the speed really lets this line down. The airport line has a maximum speed of 130kp/h and takes 10 minutes to go 18km in a B series train from Bayswater to High Wycombe and about 25 minute to go 40km from Kwinana to Mandurah on the Mandurah line.
Hi Phil, Excellent video. I have seen a number of videos from Tallawong to Chatswood but this is one of the first I have seen going the opposite way. Incidentally, it must feel a bit strange riding a train without any driver. I notice that the time between the doors opening and closing is quite short and I am wondering how they handle this at peak times. Anyway, thanks for sharing. All the best from Rob in Melbourne Australia.
Feels like the metro could've run a little faster than just under 40 mins for the whole length, but then again it's a high frequency rather than an express service. Though it does feel like it's faster to get from say Rouse Hill to CBD on the direct bus line than the metro to chatswood and then train the rest of the way and I'm not sure it'll be much faster once metro city opens and renders the chatswood transfer moot. Anyway, thanks for sacrificing your arms and hands to give us this video! BTW, do you know what's become of the old link from the Epping metro line up to the T1 line to Hornsby from before the Metro?
It used to be a bit faster but they slowed the train down due to shaking or something alike. Lol my arms and hands are still feeling it The line from the Metro Line up to the T1 is just sitting there rusting away
I would say that once the Metro extends to the CBD, someone should compare different bus or train routes against the Metro, see which one is really faster 🤔
@@sydneytrainsvlogsYou should check out Turrella station Phil, it’s gotten a complete makeover and I like how the trains always fly by on the junctions.
No bad video! The only draw back, if there is a problem, is there any one (train staff) to take over? London has its own version, Norway refused this type of train (driverless) as it can't see around bends if there is a hazard, until it almost on top of the hazard! And computer *DO* brake down and can not be trusted. Like with ATP and ATC they are electronic! As to the older system (now over 100 years old) train-stop device - Melbourne, NYC, Sydney and Chicago etc. has it installed, if all else fails (electronics) the old system is *Fail Safe!*
@@qjtvaddict No computer can out do humans when it comes to safety, as we can see things that computer can't see before the train gets there! Even with _"GoA4 automation "_ who can really trust electronics over say an old fashion "train stop-cock" Melbourne, Sydney, NYC still uses train stop-cocks! As to _"GoA4 automation " unless there is CCTV - forward facing, I would never ride a driver-less train! I would be placing my life in danger if there is a hazard and the computer doesn't see it! We would and we have 180° range of vision and can see further than a computer!
