Jeez man, I not sure if this coverage was before or after the World Expo 88 (which we'll sadly never ever see again..). But I kinda understand where they are going with this as atleast it's within the public's best interest or duty of care aspect?! I remember that I want to go on that monorail as a kid but I was from melbourne (we had and still kinda have the "light rail" which tried to combat this?!) and it wasn't until 2013 that I finally visited Sydney but at it's dying stages of it's monorail which was on the proceeds of being decommissioned in that year. So disappointed as the ticket prices were around $25 or even more?! I think I might of seen it barely around that time?! Oh well the 80's to me was the time it would've been worth visiting Sydney and I already knew I was going to be disappointed in seeing it in the 21st century. Well atleast Sydney now has it's long dead tram system resurrected and back online so someday I may even see that and guess what?! It's even better than melbournes once famous now dull system so there's that atleast sigh....
Brash’s music and electronics store, Timezone video game arcade, Pizza Hut and Greater Union cinema was across the road on Pitt St. But, all these shops and attractions were demolished in 2010.
The Park Plaza and World Square were part of derelict and abandoned construction sites for many, many years through the 1990s and into the 2000s. The early 1990s recession played a role with these construction stalls. Park Plaza’s adjacent building, the Citigroup Centre, opened in 2000. The World Square was not fully completed until 2007, nearly two decades after the monorail commenced services. 🚝
