Hi Janice, I am totally visiting Tamasek when I get to Sydney in January next year! And so many of the other places I've seen on your channel. I absolutely never get all inc. at hotels when I'm travelling so I can go and check out local cuisine and your vlogs have opened up Sydney for some proper dining, both on a budget and the occasional extravagant night out for my trip. The burger blog was also great from a while back, Katsu fish burger? Never get that in the UK! Can't wait to finish work for my month long trip Down Under from the UK starting mid January (Adelaiede>Sydney>Uluru>Cairns>Port Douglas>Brisbane), your "stuff to do in Sydney" vids have given me plenty of ideas for things off the tourist track when I get there :) Keep on keeping on, you've saved me a whole heap of time by not having to meandre around looking for places to eat and stuff to see! 谢谢你 Probably a bad Google translate, but thank you, haha.

I work in parra down the road from temasek, and its an institution (along with DeDe’s chip shop next door)…good coffee (according to work mates) paper plane and homage…both are around the corner from each other…homage is right next to temasek and paper plane is on horwood place 😊
Hey Janice, the small compartment on the lid of your rice box, if it is like mine, it is a small compartment for you to put things like a glove of garlic, to prevent little critters getting to your rice.
OMG the food at Temasek is such a delight! Their Laksa is the best, but I find it hard to go past their beef rendang. So aromatic, and the beef just melts in your mouth. I use to eat there so often when I worked at Parramatta.

The chilli for the hainanese chicken looked delicious, though $19 is a bit pricey for my budget . All the food featured was mouth watering as usual 👍. I’m looking forward to a video on that Thai restaurant you mentioned .
I used to like laksa in Temasek until I went to a run down food court in Mayfair Plaza in Parramatta. And it's only $12 each, their laksa is even better and it's a cheap eats too
There’s something about soup that is so incredibly comforting is such a nigella intro 😁. The best chicken rice in Melbourne is at serawak kitchen VIC Market. My love language is giving presents and acts of service.
Oh and the reason you preboil the bones is to get rid of the impurities (you will see the brown-grey froth), so that when you actually boil the soup with them, the soup remains clear.
The Ni Hao Bar looks so rad! Dude, you gotta check out The Hutaoli Bar, it's street front in the Paddys Building on the corner facing Darling Square. They do live music and the singer was totally heavenly rocking Mandarin ballads. The eggplant (with green beans) is soooo amazingly good. I haven't felt such a lush vibe in a Sydney Jazz club since the 90's.
The reason why you boil your pork bones is to get rid of the myoglobin from the pork. It is confused with blood as blood is already drained in the butchering process
Aloha Janice! Yes, I can relate..., I'm the oldest of six!🤪 We'll be visiting Sydney overnight in March '23 and staying in nearby Chinatown. We'll check out Ni Hau Bar for its fancy food and drinks. However, Temasek's food also looks delicious! Would you recommend something similar nearby Chinatown? We'd tried the Chicken Rice in Singapore and loved it! Mahalo! ❤from Hawaii!
I don’t drink coffee even though I live in Parramatta but some of my favorite cafes to visit here are Urban Jungle, Circa Espresso We have many great ones here!
Lidcombe centre the Asian place in the food court and Ipoh Town Barangaroo both make amazing Hainanese chicken rice ….. I love the broth!! It’s ones of my favourite parts of the dish 😅

Great vid, I've had Temasak on my list for soooo many years but you've finally convinced me I need to get into gear and actually go! The coffee at Circa Espresso is quality. As for laksa my faves are Ho Jiak (their chicken rice too), Happy Chef in the Sussex Centre, and Malacca Straits in Broadway.
If you're ever in Adelaide Ricky's Chicken Rice in the Central market is the place to go. They have other cafes in suburbs too. There used to be a better one in the nearby Chinatown Plaza but it's been renovated and lost it's soul, so I don't know what the chicken rice is like now. Both have laksa too but the laksa you had looked hard to beat.
My go to place is Homage speciality coffee, has one of the friendly service plus good sandwiches, can’t go wrong with the Rueben, mac and cheese jaffle, cheeseburger jaffle

@@JaniceFung the chicken Laksa and Hainese chicken for sure. But I also think the Beef Randang and the 5 spice meat roll is great. It's also on my list to try their 24 hour notice menu 😋 which has the black pepper or chilli crab and fish head curry. Keep coming out west Janice there's so many places to try. If you're ever in Parra again, check out Lucien Baked Goods (they're affiliated with Circa Espresso and they have great baked goods that are Middle Eastern inspired) and Homage Specialty Coffee (they have good food as well, I always get the toasties).
Every time Janice goes to try a new restaurant or talks about food she get so excited & very happy 😁😂 Istana has probably the best authentic steamed Hainanese Chicken Rice in Sydney. You can also try "Sayong Curry and Laksa" the Hainanese Chicken Rice, Laksa and Nasi Lemak are the most popular dishes there. They also have Asian foods (Japanese, Chinese, Thai) all prices around the $10, and most meals include a main dish and a soup entree, so very good value for money 😁
We just had our Hainanese chicken fix at Temasek last week!!😋 Have yet to find one in Sydney as good as theirs, do you have other recommendation?😊 We go to the CBD quite often too :) TIA!
I used to go to Jimmy's recipe in Townhall and Malay Chinese in Wynyard all the time - but Jimmy's has closed down and Malay Chinese is closing shop for a few months :( if I find any other place I really like in the CBD, I'll let you know!
